Brandon E. Gregory was sentenced to 18 months confinment in state jail and lost his hunting/fishing license for 5 years yesterday in a Houston court.

Mr. Buck, as the deer was known, was a pen raised buck that everyone enjoyed on their trips to the park. He had a 10 point rack and allowed the children to scratch his back through the fence.

The attorney stated in court that in all his years he had never tried anyone that was more hated in the community.

Great job Harris county(Houston) for a job well done. Wish it could have been more. Due to the felony conviction he will no longer be able to hold his job as an insurance adjuster in the state.

Sorry for the rant. Just hate what this guy did to this community.

Nope, didn't shoot him. Crawled in the pen and when the deer charged him and gored him he stabbed it in the heart. Cut the head off and took it to his apartment with him.

He entered with the intention of killing. He wanted the rack.

I think that our country needs to stop slapping animal abusers on the hand. If you murder someone, most sentences are 25 to life or life in jail. People that kill a dog (or deer in this case) get a couple months, and a fine. I think it's b.s. sorry, but It just ticks me off

I am with ya Luke. This guy is one wacked out sicko. I mean what was he thinking!? You wonder what the thought pattern is for someone who would do this.

How could you take any pride in a trophy that you did not hunt!? Like mounting a fish you caught out of an aquarium.

We had 2 cases up here in Wisconsin where snowmobilers harassed and killed deer and ducks.  I don't remember exactly how it turned out with the ducks but the guys on sleds basically walked away thanks to a good lawyers defense.

Hey , hey now, let's not judge.

I got two beautiful fiberglass mounts of Neon Tetras , one of a Gourami, and another fiberglass mount of a Guppy ,  but don't worry. I threw them all back. :D

Free the fighters !!!

Har, Har, Har !!

Heck guys, I was tickled to death. I figured he would get little probation if even that. Finally, maybe someone will start taking a stronger stance against these jerks.

Most game violations in this area git off with a slap on the wrist and a small fine(If that), so when this came down I was very happy to see that someone finally noticed.

Killing a deer is animal abuse? ::) Guess you'd better stop putting those sharp hooks through the lips of a fish.

There is a big difference between killing a person and killing an animal. Human > animal

I thought that is how Texans like to kill their deer, inside of a fence, underneath a feeder.

Seems to be the modus operandi down there anyway.

If you guys think there is a difference between what he did and what those fenced "ranches" refer to as "management" and stabbing pet Bambi at the park, you are delusional.

frogtog, you are welcome. :)

I agree that killing the deer in the pen was a terrible thing to do and I think the guy got a just sentence.  I also don't hold with fighting dogs or even chickens and I hate to see an animal that is starving.  However, this whole animal protection/abuse thing is getting out of hand.  To adopt a pet from the local pound where I live you now have to tell them how your last pet died!  It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "the world is going to the dogs".

I think he got off easy.

I agree. You have to consider though that most game violation cases seldom get to the court procedings. Most are let off with very little damage to their pocket book and they are right back out there doing the same things.

It's at least a move to finally force some teeth into the laws and hopefully the beginning of a set of stronger actions taken against these crooks.

At the very least he should have lost his hunting/fishing priviledges for life, payment to replace the deer, and lots more time behind bars.

Another note, the deer has been replaced. A vet in the San Antonio area that has a breeding program donated one to the park.

These type of people are not hunters or fishermen. Just plain old crooks.
