Fat-G Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Right now I shave about once every three days. In the next year, I'll need to seriously start. For Christmas my dad was going to get me an electric razor. Any requests? Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 You mean any suggestions? Nope. Just use any one you feel comfortable. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 dude just never shave again and grow a grizzly *** beard, shaving is a pain in the ***. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 I use a Fusion. It beats the heck out of disposables. I hate electric razors, they never could give me a close shave. Shaving can be a pain in the arse, but there are few things better than a freshly shaven face...or at least that's what my girlfriend says. Quote

tbird Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I'll second the no go on an electric razor ..never had good luck with them. The Fusion or other premium razors is the way to go. T 1 Quote
swilly78 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I also use the fusion. Screw electric razors. Or go with the grizzly *** beard. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 Step into manhood.........buy a straight razor and a leather strop. Quote
Simp Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I agree skip the electric razor. I tried several and it was always a bad shave. This is probably something you will have to find out for yourself like every man does though. I'd buy a decent razor from Gillette (I'm a mach three fan) and spend some of the money you would on a electric razor, on a good trimmer. These are great for neck hair, side burns, and around the ear. Also hide your Razors from your mother and sisters. I don't know how many times while growing up I went to shave and it felt like sand paper against my face. Maybe a butter knife trying to cut a stake is a better analogy? I think all men know what's happened. A female got a hold of your razor and used it on her legs and didn't think you would notice! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 Step into manhood.........buy a straight razor and a leather strop. Yeah but he's at such a tender age. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 I'm fair skinned and despise shaving. So years ago I got a fogproof shower mirror and started shaving in the shower. No more pimples or skin irritation. Shaving in the hot steamy shower softens your beard thus giving you a very close shave. Also no sink mess to deal with (your mom will love you). Don't waste your money on fancy shaving cream, get the plain Barbasol. It's what barbers recommend. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 Bic single blade disposables and any 99 cent shave cream w/aloe. Hot rag over your mug (face) for 30 seconds and giver liver! Gillette Cool Wave after shave to top it off. 8-) PS, if you shave in the shower, remember to take the razor out. Otherwise the rest of the family may wonder. ;D Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 Shave after the shower. Beard hair will be soft. If you're going to shave daily, go with the grain. Otherwise, against the grain can buy you an extra day. Use shaving lotion instead of cream. Only takes a tiny amount. Keep the blades fresh. I use old school Gillete dual blades, they work fine. moby bass Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I shave after my shower and use shaving soap in a mug. Nothing better that applying that hot lather on your face with a good brush. Swirl it around, work it into the beard. 2 to 4 blade razors will give you the closest shave you ever had. Absolutely no irritation. Badger hair brush is best, I've had mine for over 30 years. Williams shaving soap, if you can find it. It lasts a long time. Wal Mart used to carry it but only has another brand now (I forget the name) It's good, nice close shave, but it doesn't last as long. Still worth it. When your beard is that soft, you get a lot more mileage out of the blades, I think. Tokyo Tony Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 dude just never shave again and grow a grizzly *** beard, shaving is a pain in the ***. I think he's talking about shaving his face. I would have to recommend against growing a beard on your ***. Quote

Super User bassfisherjk Posted January 17, 2010 Super User Posted January 17, 2010 Sorry Guys,I hit the wrong button.I wanted to finish by saying Good Luck. Quote
KYbass1276 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I don't remember exactly why but once my wife and I went somewhere and I had left all my shaving stuff at home. Well she had her stuff just disposable razors and some stuff called skintimate shaving gel. Well I used both and I have never had a better shave. So now and go ahead and laugh but I use womens disposable 2 blade razors and skintimate for women cream when I shave. Works for me. Go ahead laugh if you want but hey it does the truck for me. All the other stuff I tried felt like I was using a dull butter knife to shave with Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 I like to shave with a dull razor, cold water and no shaving cream. Quote
FordNFishinLover Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I like to shave with a dull razor, cold water and no shaving cream. Hahahahaha, Fusion razor for me. Gillette gel is my lathererrr. Quote
OIFBasser Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Say no to the single blade Bics ( I call them jail razors ). The slim twin disposables are the best for the price, but it's hard to beat a Fusion or Mach 3. As far as shaving cream stay away from scented creams. The perfumes and dyes in them may irritate your baby face. I like Nivea for men, but plain jane Barbasol will do just fine. And yes hide your shaving gear if you have women around the house. I drilled a hole through my Mach 3 and put a keychain bungee on it and screwed it into my drawer in the vanity. Now my wife is subjucted to only her fancy pink razors, and I'm not buying new blades every month. Good luck with the shaving. Quote
Skunked in DR Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Best shave you can get is with a straight razor. If you have a barbershop nearby that still does the full hot towel, soap and shave, it is absolutely worth it. Best shave I've ever been able to give myself was when I used a cup and brush for lather, just seems to get the hairs up better for shaving. Now that I have to shave every day, sometimes twice, I've gotten lazy, Gillette Fusion in the shower, no cream or soap. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 I like to shave with a dull razor, cold water and no shaving cream. I did that once when i was in a hurry.......That will destroy your face.... . Man my face was blistering red after that.....Lesson learned. Quote
