Pants on the ground. Pants on the ground! Farve dropped his pants on the ground!!!

He needs to go away! Every team he has played for his last pass attempt for that team has been an INT. He is way overrated.

Hardly, man. He just broke the all time playoff yard total last night. Joe Montanna held it before him. He's like a McDonalds cheeseburger, he sure isn't the best, but you know exactly what you're getting out of him.

Favre overrated?

In the words of my generation: "LOL"

I agree. Early 40's and still a marquee NFL quarterback. ::)

Over rated? Lets look at the 4 qtr stats (not OT).....

Vikings Saints

475 Yards 235

31 1st Downs 12

7-12 3rd Down eff. 3-10

5 Turnovers 1

Pretty obvious to me that Farve or the Vikings were not overrated.... if anything its the Saints... 235 total yards will sure beat the Colts....bwahahaha. The Vikes can't blame anyone but themselves with that fat ugly 5 on the bottom, unless you count the SuperDome ball handlers who were probably oiling the ball up each Vikes posession ::)

Not so sure about an NFL wide conspiracy theory... too many variables for something like that.   And good luck getting Peyton to play along with a loss... he's like a football robot... he'd probably take the money and then go ahead and win anyways.

Ought to be a good Super Bowl...

Go Colts!

The Viking did exactly what I thought they would, keep it close then choke on a big one. Viking DF is alot better then the colts, but the colts still have a good DF. Beware of Brees because he may have struggled but the guy is unbelievable, and sorely underrated. It's the SuperBowl and you have two teams who went 13-0 to start the season colts 14-0. It is gunna be a hell of a game but I thing Saints win 31-24 Manning throughs for over 350 3 TD and Brees goes over 275 for 3 TD, X factor Pierre Thomas vs Joseph Addai, and special teams. PS: Im speaking as a Bucs fan and I hate the Saints, but I think they win this one.

Yes, Farve is overrated. Make excuses where you want do you forget his abysmal season with the Jets last year? He cost the Jets on making the playoffs with terrible decisions. Just like he cost the Vikings a trip to the SB. Farve had a good year this year I will give him that, however handing the ball off to RBs doesnt make you a great QB. He is a good QB however when it counts at crunch time he chokes period, I'll take  Manning or Brady anyday over hime. He will now hold the NFL and Espn hostage for 6 months on whether he returns or not. Retire? You kidding me, why doesnt someone smarten up and just call it for what it is. "He doesnt want to go to training camp or play in preseason games."

Farve didn't take the Jets anywhere because they were terrible. You put any good gunslinger style QB on a bad team and he'll struggle.  Hes not the same style QB as Brady and Manning (more similar to Brees probably).  I know he's made some bad decisions in games but he makes up for some of them with ridiculously good throws.  I like the heart he plays with, making blocks down field and jumping around like a kid.

I blame the entire Brett Favre saga on ESPN and NFL network / the likes.  If he wasn't such a big name, coming back and retiring wouldn't be that big of deal... they just drag it out to make it seem like something more than it is... he likes to play the game period and has trouble with that decision at his age.  Who cares if he wants to skip some of camps, hes old and deserves too, he can throw better than 90% of the young guys with no practice anyways.  I personally think its hilarious that GB wouldn't have him back and he went to the Vikes, just to pumble the Pack twice.  Hes good for the game of football if networks wouldn't talk about it 18 hours of the day.

What happened even with all the turnovers his team still had a chance to win the game. He could have run for a minimal gain, or thrown an incomplete pass. He wanted to be the "Gunslinger" and he blew it. He want thinking whats best for the team. If he stays within the system as a "dont lose it for us QB" he is ok. If if it comes down to crunch time and he has to make a play, dont bet on it. The Giants, the Eagles, and now the Saints all should send him thank you notes for their Super Bowl trips.

I'm not saying he doesn't choke sometimes, because he does, but that doesn't discount the fact that the team wouldn't have even been there without him.

Favre is a very good quarterback who often leads his teams to victory. Sadly, he also often hurts his teams with costly, and many times unneccessary turnovers. Remember, he is the all time leader in touchdown passes....and interceptions. I think his strongest trait is he is tough. His worst is his stubborness, his refusal to learn from his mistakes and NOT make the critical turnover. There is no arguing the Vikings were the better football team yesterday, they were in position to win a game even with what, four turnovers? That almost never happens. When it is all said and done, the team that didn't beat itself is going to the Super Bowl.

Two more thoughts on Favre. One, the Vikings go nowhere without him....maybe not even to the playoffs. And two, he mans up after the game. He answers the questions as they come to him, and answers them honestly. If they got their ***** kicked, he is the first one to say, give them credit, they whooped our *****.

I respect him for that.

He is way overrated.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Could Sage Rosenfels or Tavaris Jackson lead the Vikings into the NFC Championship game? Or even a wildcard berth? Please ask yourself that.

They got in the playoffs just last season with Tavaris Jackson even though they lost to the Eagles, 26 - 14.

From a Packers fan...

Yes Favre may have cost them the game (Hooray!!) but Favre was the only reason why they were even that close with the Saints. He took one hell of a pounding and yet he kept the Vikings alive when they should of been blown out.

Ok, so you post a regular season game versus an 8-8 team as a clutch situation?

Did you forget this?

Oh this site is a good one as well.Farve INTs

Lastly lets not forget Farve I think owns the most INTs and stands alone in the 300 INTs club. 1991-2006 he had 288.

Interesting debate, but does it really matter?  I mean seriously, whatever happened in the playoffs regarding the Vikings, everyone would have blamed Farve anyway.  Let's look at the scenarios:

Vikings loose the NFV championship - it's Farve's fault.

Vikings win the NFC championship - it's because of Farve.

Vikings win the Superbowl - it's because of Farve.

Nevermind there was another team playing in the championship.  ::)

I personally have nothing but respect for the guy.  But I'm glad he's out of the picture.  This is a TEAM sport, not a one-man-band.  And I think his presence takes the spotlight away from the other talented athletes on the team.

At least the Saints are more balanced in that respect. I'd much rather see a TEAM win the Superbowl, than a quarterback. Which is why I'm rooting for the Saints to win it all!!  :D

X2!

Was it also his fault as well that just about everybody else who touched the ball on offense couldn't hold onto it? What about the 12 men penalty? The poor protection?

As a Packer fan...I love how it ended..could not have written a better script than what went down. They kicked butt out there last night, unfortunately they kicked their own as well.

And this was hardly the worst play in history, I would argue that the worst play was the one guy who picked up a fumble and ran it to the wrong endzone to score a TD for the other team. But yeah, it was a pretty poor decision.

If I remember, that was Carl Eller, with the Vikings. Favre is a great Quarterback. Yeah he has thrown alot of picks but he's also been around longer than just about anyone.

2 things I didn't care for, aside from maybe him being a tad selfish, were what they did at the end of the Cowboys game (just run the ball) and how he laid down so Strahan could get the sack record.

Not great sportsmanship.

No i dont think it was carl eller, but he was a member of the purple people eaters, maybe jim marshall?

Pain, he's definitely one of the best at turning the ball over, but he's also undoubtedly a Hall of Fame quarterback regardless of those mistakes, that's my point. Look at Adrian Peterson. He has been the most prolific fumbler throughout the past two years, but he's also been the first or second best back in that same time span.

It was Jim Marshall.

Age does funny things to your memory.
