jeremyt Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I quit smoking last Friday the 15th, this past week has been the hardest week of my life as far as being ill, upset at my family goes, it hurts my feelings to have a serious attitude with my kids, but I would rather do that than have them see me smoke 1 more cigarette again. Super User A-Jay Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Good For you ! (On quitting, not having a hard week) My younger brother is going through the challenges of quitting smoking also. I quit half a life time ago. I think I chewed up 10 boxes of tooth picks the first month. It's a B@#ch ! It has been the single BIGGEST lifestyle change I've ever made. You can do it ! A-Jay Quote
Hook Set Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Hang in there, it will be worth it. I'm gonna try and stop dipping this spring, not looking forward to it! Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Way to go.I know what you are dealing with. It's been a year since I had a chew of snuff(chewed for 40 yr.) You are doing the right thing,Good Luck. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Kudo's I'm an X (smoker), 2 packs a day for 40+ yrs. Been an X now for 3 yrs. and just now starting to lose all the weight I put on in the first yr. That's the hard part, quitting with support (all of the different support systems) is easy and you can do it. Getting the weight off is the actual hard part... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!! Quote
frogtog Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Way to go, hang in there it's tough but you can do it. If not for yourself do it for the kids. Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 I quit cigarettes cold in 2001 after about 20 years. Then a few years ago, like an idiot, I started on little cigars. I sucked those down like candy. This past November I got a nasty case of bronchitis. I had to use an inhaler for a couple of weeks until it cleared up. I'm not sure if I caught it or the cigars brought it on, but that's all it took. I dropped them like a rock and haven't looked back. I'll tell ya what, I put aside what I spent a week on cigars every payday. It's only been two months but I got a Revo STX, a Falcon rod and a load of baits for the upcoming season. Maybe something like that would motivate you to stick with it. Best of luck to you. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 26, 2010 Super User Posted January 26, 2010 Hang in there. I was smoking 3 packs a day when I quit 11 years ago. The first 3 months are gonna be dificult. But after that it should get easier every day. Like anything else don't tempt yourself. Quote
kiko13 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Congratulations on your decision to quit...it was a good one. I quit in November of 1982.....2 packs a day. My advice to you is to keep thinking about your kids and start an exercise program. Ernie Quote
