Super User Root beer Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 Any Half-Life 2 fans on here? I'm downloading Half-life 2 and Day of Defeat as we speak. Since xbox is gone, I need some stress reliever. Something about blowing crap out of Japanese teenagers on Xbox Live help with stress. ;D I never did finish the Half-Life 2 campaign, and if I recall it was one of the hardest campaign of any video games I've played. Day of Defeat just one awesome multiplayer game. That help me with Call of Duty withdrawal. ;D Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 Half Life 2 was a great single player game. I don't know how many people play the multiplayer, I think more play CS Source and DOD Source. I played DOD Source for a little while but gave up on playing games on the computer when I got my xbox. I really liked it because the graphics were great and they didn't slow down my computer too much. I was getting better frame rates than i would get with other games. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 18, 2010 Author Super User Posted January 18, 2010 I have all the sources, but I'm just going download regular Day of Defeat and Half-Life 2. Counter strike:Source and Day of Defeat:Source is just too big. I still have 50GB of space left on my laptop, but still. Nothing wrong with little classic. ;D I just need find my mouse with USB port connection. P.S. The Half-Life 2 campaign is really fun. ;D Haven't played it since it first came out. Been quite some time. Quote
MattinOK Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I really enjoyed the game on the Xbox. There were two gems in the campaign imho. The level "We don't go to Ravenholm" (zombie-esque) one, and the final level. Nothing is more fun than using human bodies as shields/projectiles. Quote
Other. Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Half-life is my favorite series. The developers put so much thought into it, it's amazing. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 i bought a Counter Strike: Source package from Best Buy for 20 bucks and it included CS:S, Half Life 2: Deathmatch, and Day of Defeat: Source. unfortunately, i was only able to get CSS working for a very short time, like a few plays, i never could get half life 2 to run, and day of defeat lasted the longest but it was terribly glitchy and eventually wouldn't run. i really wish i could get these games to work on my computer cuz they were really fun, but i got no clue why they won't work. Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 oh there's also Kuma War, which is online and totally free. you download it and then whenever they come out with new maps (missions) you download them. i had this game for a while and then it decided to stop working too. there were always lots of people on and it was really fun. www.kumawar.com Quote

I'm not a computer whiz, but are you meeting ALL the computer requirement to run them? I first downloaded the Steam package on my old computer which required few upgrades to meet the minimum requirement, but that was 6 years ago, my laptop surpassed them all. It ran fine for me last night. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 i guess... i'm looking at the case right now and there aren't even system requirements listed. maybe they were on like a cardboard sleeve when i bought it or something. i would think the only thing that may need improvement is the video card.... its an NVIDIA something Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 18, 2010 Author Super User Posted January 18, 2010 For those of you that have played the game, I'm kind of stuck in that pool in the canal where the hole is few feet above the water. I'm trying stack up all the barrels to climb on top of then jump into the hole..Do you just keep trying stack the barrels up or what? :-? Quote
Other. Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Uh is that the part right after you run away from the heli in the swamp boat thing? If so you have to use your gravity gun and take the barrels and put them UNDERNETH the canal to where this cage thing is and raise the platform above the water. Quote

My friend said there a valve somewhere that raise the water level to enable me to swim into the hole. I'll try it tomorrow. Quote
