llPa1nll Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Oh My Dear Lord what is happening to my beloved Red Sox. I fear they have lost all of their bats. Now 2 games back... :-[ :-/ :'(
FishingBuds Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Buehrle pitched the 18th perfect game in major league history 8-)
llPa1nll Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Heard its rumored that Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay is going to the NL St Louis Cardinals for 3 of there top prospects.
srv1990 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Heard its rumored that Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay is going to the NL St Louis Cardinals for 3 of there top prospects. Not likely now, as it's been confirmed the Cards traded 3 prospects to Oakland for Matt Holliday: http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/commishs-hot-stove/commishs-hot-stove/2009/07/espn-report-cards-getting-closer-on-holliday-trade/

Super User CWB Posted July 27, 2009 Super User Posted July 27, 2009 Okay. Repeat after me. First Place Cubs. Apparently, to paraphrase a famous quote, the news of their demise has been greatly exaggerated.
Super User burleytog Posted July 27, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 27, 2009 They're playing good ball right now. L10 8-2.
Uncle Leo Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I am happy for youse guys, spoken like a true Southsider.
Super User Tin Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 New England is in turmoil... 1. Bucholtz, Masterson/Beadouin, and prospects = Holliday 2. Bard > Papelbon 3. Dice-K is a lost cause and can't keep his mouth shut, send him packing. 4. JD Drew should have been left to play in the NL. With the exception of Game 4 vs. Cleveland in 2007. 5. 2010 is going to be a horrible year when they finish 3rd and miss the playoffs.
llPa1nll Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Its a brutal stretch for our beloved Red Sox, Tin. Somebody, anybody throw some life preservers already.
Super User Tin Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 Its a brutal stretch for our beloved Red Sox, Tin. Somebody, anybody throw some life preservers already. They had a chance to get rid of their short-stop worries with Cabrera but said no. : They would have got him for free too. ;D
Super User burleytog Posted July 31, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 31, 2009 I don't know if two arms from Pittsburgh will help, but we got 'em. :-/ Hope the offense didn't blow their load early this week. Consecutive 10+ run outtings usually means they'll have at least a week of no scoring. Regardless, I'm glad to see them playing some good ball.
Daniel A. Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 ...too quiet on the Red Sox front. If it were up to me, I'd send Clay Buchholz to sunny San Diego for Gonzales. Something needs to happen before the deadline.
CJ Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Okay.....2ND PLACE CUBS AND THEY"RE DEAD!!! Ouch, Z goes down with an injury. Well see cya in 2010 Cubbies.
srv1990 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Matt Holliday has been a beast since coming to the Cards: .606 avg (20 of 33) with 3 home runs and 10 RBI.
Super User Tin Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 Matt Holliday has been a beast since coming to the Cards: .606 avg (20 of 33) with 3 home runs and 10 RBI. Yea he has gone nuts since he signed. What a steal so far.

I have a feeling JJ Hardy was going to Boston.
Super User CWB Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 Z's fine and will make his next scheduled start. .5 games behind does not mean you are dead. Well, maybe in St Louis it does. Still not bad for a team that has had at least one, and sometimes 2 starters on the DL for most of the year. Cards get a big hitting hired gun. Let's see if they pull away. Didn't Houston just shut them out?

Didn't Houston just shut them out? They sure did, after we took the first two games from the 'Stros and 3 of 4 from the Dodgers... all while Pujols is in arguably the worst slump of his career. A half-game out means nothing, it's anyone's division and I would not be surprised if it's this close into the last week of the season. It's gonna be fun!

Super User burleytog Posted August 10, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 10, 2009 One minute they're up, the next they're down. >
Super User CWB Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 I don't know but it's looking more and more like it's time to put a fork in the Cubs. Looks like they have no fire left. Maybe too many injuries, Maybe just overpaid lazy players that would rather watch a ball after they hit it than run, I don't know. Pitching seems to be O.K. still but Killer Instinct is lacking. Is there a stat for how many times you load the bases and don't score? I don't care how many outs there are. Maybe they can turn it around.
Super User burleytog Posted August 13, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 13, 2009 Pitching hasn't really been there over the last few games. Pitching is what killed us in Denver and it appears to be doing the same against Philly.
