Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 8, 2009 Super User Posted July 8, 2009 To G.P!!! Not looking good tonight. LOL! Oh....taking out yalls starter after 4. Ouch! Man, you ain't a kidding. Wainwright ruled and Brew Town's bats drooled. Not scoring in the third really killed the crew.
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 10, 2009 Super User Posted July 10, 2009 Looks like the Pirates are looking to deal Freddy Sanchez: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/rockies-interested-in-freddy-sanchez.html CJ, if my math is correct, the Crew leads the season 5-4 in the 'Great Double-or-Nothing Crankbait Wager.'
1inStripes Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 What's that now? : 2 out of 3 again. 4 out of 6 for the year. Not bad for the Bravos vs. little bears.
srv1990 Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hey GP, if the Brew Crew untuck their shirts as some sort of sign to honor a "hard days work"... why don't they untuck their shirts after a loss? Does it mean they didn't work hard after a loss? I'm just askin'... Up next: Cards-Cubs... let's get it on!!
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 10, 2009 Super User Posted July 10, 2009 Because they suck, and there is nothing to celebrate there. ;D
Super User burleytog Posted July 10, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 10, 2009 d**n Harden and his fragile arm...going to be lucky to go five.
Super User burleytog Posted July 11, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 11, 2009 Albert Pujols is baseball's David Sims.
srv1990 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Albert Pujols is baseball's David Sims. Do you mean David Sims the British photographer or David Sims the former editorial director of the O'Reilly Network or David Sims the football player?
srv1990 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Watch Tin Cup. Oh, THAT David Simms... pretty funny analogy of the best player in baseball. Of course not nearly as funny as the quote purportedly attributed to the great Mordecai 'Three Finger' Brown after the Cubs won the 1908 World Series: "This is just the start. We'll definitely win again next year". But then again, I've always had a strange sense of humor.
srv1990 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 A couple pics from the All-Star FanFest being held in St. Louis, leading up to tomorrow night's All Star game:
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 Very cool pics srv...did you get to see Prince beat out former Crew prospect Cruz in the derby?
srv1990 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 No, didn't watch the derby, in fact have never watched it. Not something that's ever interested me. Will probably only watch the introductions tonight just to see Stan the Man, and then turn by attention to my kids. The game itself is a farce, home field for the Series is a joke.
Super User cart7t Posted July 15, 2009 Super User Posted July 15, 2009 MLB should thank St Louis for letting them hold their game in our city.
srv1990 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 The only thing I watched over the two-days of All Star telecasts was the pre-game show last night so that I could see the tribute to Stan Musial. In my opinion MLB absolutely, without question blew it. They had an opportunity to honor one of the greatest players of all time, not to mention one of the greatest gentlemen the game has seen, and what do they do? Cart him out so he can hand the ball to Obama, and then nothing. Some of Mr. Musial's career stats: BA: .331 (led the NL seven times) Hits: 3,630 (4th all time) Doubles: 725 (3rd all time) Triples: 177 (19th all time) HR's: 475 (28th all time) RBI: 1,951 (6th all time) BB's: 1,599 (13th all time) Total Bases: 6,134 (2nd all time) Fielding %: .989 in 2,907 games played 24-time All Star 3-time NL MVP 3-time World Series champion *Missed the 1945 season while serving in the Navy during WWII The "everyday hero's" tribute was very nice and those folks deserved it. But this is the All Star game and MLB couldn't find 2-3 minutes to highlight Mr. Musial's career? What a joke.
CJ Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 They showed a nice video clip of Musial on TV before they brought him out on the cart. He is a very special guy. Was cool when he played take me out to the ballgame on his harmonica when he was inducted.
Super User burleytog Posted July 19, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 19, 2009 Two games back is dead? Lou's teams usually play their best ball after the break.
Super User burleytog Posted July 19, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 19, 2009 How the hell is Washington this bad? They've got decent players. I wonder if it would be possible to play Washington about 15 more times over the last few months of the season?
1inStripes Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I will be a big Cubs fan for the next couple of days.
srv1990 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 The Smoltz experiment must end. If you find someone to end that experiment, perhaps they'll help us with the Duncan debacle >
Super User CWB Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 THE CUBS IS DEAD!!! THE BREWERS ARE DYING!!! The Cubs is dead? I have this page bookmarked for when the season's over and the Cubs won the division by 5 games.
srv1990 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 The Smoltz experiment must end. If you find someone to end that experiment, perhaps they'll help us with the Duncan debacle > Hey Tin, did you have a hand in the Duncan trade...???
