SWMIBASSER Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 And that's why he's in Cleveland now? Because Holmgren is stupid, or greedy, or both? I just always imagined that's where my fellow fat people go. BTW what's Holmgrem ever done with out Farve? I thought he took seattle to the superbowl? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 I thought he took seattle to the superbowl? Seattle vs. Pittsburgh, the Sea Hawks first and only appearance at The Big Dance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XL Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 10, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 10, 2010 Holmgren also led Seattle to 6 divisional championships. Sure glad he was "stupid". ;D Quote

Super User burleytog Posted January 11, 2010 Super User Posted January 11, 2010 Holmgren left Green Bay because he wanted more control within the franchise and couldn't get it. Seattle offered him the kitchen sink and he took it. Seattle isn't exactly known for good decisions regarding hiring (see Mora's 4 year/$16 million contract). I think Holmgren was a lot like many other upper-echelon coaches in that he got burned out (see Parcells, Bill; Gibbs, Joe; Cowher, Bill). He spent a year away from the game and then Cleveland offered him any position he wanted. To think that Bill Cowher would be interested in the Seattle job is laughable. Cowher hasn't really given any indication that he's interested in another job. He went out on top, why sully that by trying to rebuild a franchise that has made the playoffs only 10 times in 33 seasons? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 11, 2010 Super User Posted January 11, 2010 Holmgren also led Seattle to 6 divisional championships. Sure glad he was "stupid". ;D Holmgren was coaching Seattle in 1988? Seattle has won their division six times. AFC West - 1988, 1999 NFC West - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 Holmgren did a good job when he was there. He's a good X's and O's coach, but he showed that he doesn't really have a clue when it comes to personnel decisions. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 11, 2010 Super User Posted January 11, 2010 USC asked to self-impose sanctions on the football team, the NCAA shot them down. Gonna be some bloodletting in LA. ;D http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/The_Trenches/entry/view/51206/did_ncaa%E2%80%99s_handling_of_usc_investigation_%E2%80%98hasten%E2%80%99_carroll%E2%80%99s_exit_to_seattle Quote
