brushhoggin Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 is it possible? they say that in japan they have them so i guess it is. why are they not here? nothing like fishing a natural lake but just think, you could build it however you wanted it. one side with pads, the other side with grass, one deep part with rockpiles and randomly placed brush, that would be fun huh? one big climate controlled greenhouse kinda thing. this winters killin me. i think i'm on to something 1 Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 yeah, but that takes the whole "outdoors" out of the outdoors. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 not enough reason to not open it. its like a practice room for the off season. no, its not ideal but you wouldnt stay at home with nothing to do on a day as cold as its gonna be this weekend if you could bass fish indoors! Quote
seyone Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 yeah, but that takes the whole "outdoors" out of the outdoors. Yeah but this time of year that is just what I want Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted January 9, 2010 Super User Posted January 9, 2010 I'm gonna shrink myself down and go fishing in Dave's aquarium Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 sounds boring... come on. in a little electric boat provided for you. we'll even have some ducks swimmin around in there to make it more realistic.add some girls in swimsuits on paddleboats bringing you beer, even sandwiches and pie? still boring? RobbyZ5001 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I think it's an awesome idea, but you would need a huge building. I am thinking like a 40-50 acre lake. That would be really neat. Would it be profitable? Doubtful. Quote
b.Lee Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I think it is an idea, but the overhead would be ridiculous, and what would you charge? I mean most people wouldn't pay more than boat launch fees, plus parking fees, plus a little gas Quote
Kenny418 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 If one of us would win millions in the lottery you wouldn't have to worry about making money on it. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 i understand its not happeneing. just dreamin. it would have to be big though. size of 5 superdomes smushed together. we could build it out here in the mississippi delta. lord knows theres enough room out there. dsaavedra you're no fun Quote

I mean most people wouldn't pay more than boat launch fees, plus parking fees, plus a little gas it'd be done proper. lots of thought put into it. we could charge what folks pay to play a round of golf at a nice course. dman Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 i'd be there all the time during winter! You can control the temps and control when the spawn would take place...Of course it cost extra to fish during the spawn....Thats when the big money can be made , lol Quote
D4u2s0t Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I think this would be an amazing idea. My lakes have been frozen over for weeks, and will probably stay that way till at least march. If there was a local place where I can go inside and fish, i'd be all over it. Would it be as good as going out on my favorite lake?? not a chance. But it beats sitting around staring at my fishing poles for 4-5 months. I can't even begin to imagine what the cost of something like this would be... it's pretty expensive to simply build a lake, let alone a well thought out, properly maintained, perfectly executed bass lake. Then on top of that, add in the cost of a building and dang... hope you have deep pockets lol. Upside? With the ability to control climate, water temp, conditions, etc., you now open up the chance for northerners to catch big fish that they would never be able to catch on a real lake. I think the state record here is somewhere around 10.5 or so, which pretty much means my chances of getting anything over 10 are pretty slim lol. I jump up and down like ike when I get a 3-4 pounder, and didn't break 5 this year. With all that being said, if there was a local place that was reasonably priced, I would be all over it in the winter months when it was too cold to go out. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 With all that water indoors humidity control would be an issue. Also it would have a ridiculous start up cost. Would be very difficult to be profitable. Quote
basswitch Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I was actually thinking about this last winter, did some searching and ran across this site http://www.beaverlakefrontcabins.com/fishing.html Sure, a whole lake would be a better deal, but combined with the other amenities this could make for an amusing weekend. Winter sure is long up here, and right about now a puddle with some minnows would look enticing. Quote
Glbglb21 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I was just searching to see if something like this existed idk how well it would work out simply cuz the confusion a controlled climate would cause for.the fish temperature might not cause an issue the only thing is you would probably have to have the lights rigged up to simulate sunrise day time sunset and noght time as the light might very well effect there normal cycle but idk a whole lot about it just know its cold water is freezing and i want to fish. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 16, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 Lots of lakes around here have heated docks that guys fish during the winter. Most have brush planted under them, pretty much a crappie, bluegill, catfish, occasional walleye, white bass, or wiper deal. I opt to fish the power plant lakes instead. Quote
