Super User Dan: Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 Dear Texas Fans, Colt McCoy's absence has nothing to do with all them missed tackles. Ingram, Richardson, Upchurch, we will run around you or through you, however you please. Enjoy the rest of the game. Hopefully Bama will continue to control the rest of game and ride it out to victory. See, there will be this from one side and then all sorts of "things would have been different if Colt didn't get hurt...Texas' offense would have scored quick enough to catch up/Texas offense would have kept Bama off the field, etc..." from the other side and everyone will argue over something that can never be proven. Ugh. Quote
The Unabasser Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 crying just like i knew ya'll would be...always nice being on the outside of the fishbowl looking in...lmao...good times & funny stuff enjoy Quote
fathom Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 any player, on any given day or any given field, stands a chance of being carted off that field. the winning coach prepares for that. Quote

I truly believe that any team should be ready with a quality backup for any position at any time...why these retreads put all the marbles on one player is just foolish to me its still a game tho Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 I hate seeing that happening to Colt, especially after what happened to Bradford. Losing a player like that can destroy your morale and playing ability. But...the game is not over yet. I've seen crazier stuff happen. However, I don't think anything short of Vince Young putting a jersey on will help the Horns pull this one out. Quote
fathom Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 24-21...bama. bet gilbert's parents feel a tad better now. Quote
fathom Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 is it just me or does texas' cheerleaders look 10 years older than bama's? what goes on off the field is just as important as what goes on, you know. Quote
The Unabasser Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 ooopsy haha..whadda do everybody (insert Craig Ferguson joke) Quote

Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 Texas impressed me but with McCoy out the odds were stacked against them. Given the circumstances Texas could have laid down but they didn't. It's too bad McCoy got hurt that early in the game but injuries are a big part of the game. I'm neither a Texas or Alabama fan but that was a great game to watch because of the way Texas fought back. I think Alabama let them back into the game though by their non-aggressive play calling after they got that big lead. Quote
1inStripes Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 McElroy apparently wasn't 100% either, although he isn't the main cog in the bama attack. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls09/news/story?id=4807296 Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 McElroy apparently wasn't 100% either, although he isn't the main cog in the bama attack. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls09/news/story?id=4807296 I was wondering why the Alabama's Offense Coordinator was telling ESPN that AJ McCarron (our freshmen back up) would be ready to play if something happen to McElroy..What he said it, sounded like he was expecting McElroy come off the field.. Props to Texas for not going away when they could have easily went down. Good Game. Roll tide roll. Now, Where is Matt Fly? I think he owes me a fishing trip. ;D ;D Quote
bmadd Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I'll give major credit to Texas and to Gilbert. Besides the last two minutes of the second half, they fought back and played extremely well. I had never heard of Gilbert before but after seeing his high school stats I hope that game doesn't ruin him. He had a lot of fight left in him and I hope he has a great career ahead of him. Quote
Hookem Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Congrats, Bama ! Helluva game. Gilbert will be the starter next year. Guess who his backup will be ... Case McCoy , with another Shipley coming the following year ! Again, congrats to bama ! Quote
Shad_Master Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 The thing that struck me was that it looked like after almost every series Gilbert was sitting by himself on the sidelines with no head phones on - shouldn't there have been some coach helping him work through what was going on - later in the game one player could be seen sitting with him and talking to him. Not much support for a young kid in a pressure situation. Quote
Hookem Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Saw only one player, defensive, offer words of encouragement. But that is only what was shown on TV. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 Does it really matter if McElroy was hurt? They would have won if my grandma was playing QB with the way they were running the ball. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 Congrats to Bama. Bear would be proud of the defense and ground attack!! Not much else to say other than Hookem Horns!!!!! See ya'll next year somewhere in a Bowl game. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Who should I root for? As an OU fan, I must root for Bama. As a "Big XII fan" I root for texas. (side note: conference fans? Really? I am an OU fan. I really don't understand the concept of conference fans. I have a buddy that was a hardcore Arkansas/Houston Nutt fan. Houston left, so my friend denounced the Razorbacks for going soft and getting an offensive minded head coach. But he's still an SEC fan, even though he doesn't like a single team. I find that kinda funny.) As an SEC fan hater, I root for texas. Note that I sad "SEC fan hater" and not "SEC hater." I can't hate on the SEC for being great. But I am tired of "conference fans" (see above rant). I'm tired of hearing Vandy, Kentucky, Miss State, etc fans chanting SEC SEC SEC. I think I'm going to root for Colt McCoy. He is a GREAT leader, player, person, and quarterback. I'd rather have him than Tebow any day. And I feel he is somewhat underrated. So, let's go Colt! hey! leave Miss state out of this Quote

Not much support for a young kid in a pressure situation. I saw Shipley in his face talking him up, I saw him on the sideline alone a lot as well, BUT with headphones on talking to someone upstairs. This kid will be a great QB, there is a reason the recruiting him to take Colts place. He'll do just fine. He started out ROUGH. Scared s-less. Then he gained some confidence and started moving around the pocket, even outside of it. This would have been a completley different game if the Horns receivers showed up for the ENTIRE game... And how confused were the refs? 1instripes, chime in... SHEESH. Quote
1inStripes Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I was at work and only getting to see bits and pieces. What was going on with the officials? Quote
