RobbyZ5001 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Whats more disgusting to you personally smoking or chew? I have done both and stopped doing them because I came to realize they are not worth the money and other reasons. I think chew is sickening. Spitting brown liquid into a bottle constantly just is gross. Many people in public are disgusted by it. You get chew in your teeth. I have almost drank out of a few spitters and almost vomited by the thought. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 Chew is one filthy bad habit. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 Have done both. They are both equally bad for the individual. The one thing I will mention: No one has ever developed cancer from second-hand spitting. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 Have done both. They are both equally bad for the individual. The one thing I will mention: No one has ever developed cancer from second-hand spitting. Exactly..... I find smoking worst...it smells horrible. The stink sticks to you and everything you wear.Ever kiss a smoker? The taste is even in the mouth. Chew is a gross habit....As far as the brown spitting goes. However there is no stink or aftertaste from kissing. There's no filter system in chew....I've always been told it's potentially more dangerous. I'm really considering on quitting dipping soon....Hopefully i can convince myself to do so soon. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I've done both. In my opinion, smoking is more pleasurable and just very delicious. Chew (Redman) is delicious in a very different way. Both habits are gross to those who have never enjoyed them. Both habits will likely shorten your life. If you've never tried either, keep it that way. I don't think the phrase, "Ignorance is bliss," has ever applied better to anything. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 I chewing tobacco. I did both for about 5 years. I quit smoking about 2 years ago. More disgusting? Chewing. Worse? Smoking. Plus, to all of you smokers that think that cigarettes are better, tell me that while we are on an airplane or in a movie theater ;D Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 Second-hand smoke smells something fierce. A typical Wisco tavern will make your clothes nasty. The coat is best left in the car. I don't have to worry about this with chew. Quote

Super User 5bass Posted December 28, 2009 Super User Posted December 28, 2009 I've been hooked on both but I cant say which is worse. I quit dippin' many moons ago, thankfully. I do still smoke but I'd love to be able to quit. Quote
I.rar Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 i used to know plenty of people who would spit into a water bottle. so by the end of the day , it looks like a container of toxic waste and smelt how it looked. while i do smoke , i think chew is much more disgusting. Quote
Pantera61 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I grew up in the town where many of the snuffs, dips and chews were manufactured. On cloudy days the odor would hang over the town like a pregnant sow. Most of us had chewed and dipped by the time we were 8 years old because the factory would dump the overage. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 I quit cigarettes cold 8 years ago after 20 years. Then about 6 months later, like a jackass, I started on the small cigars. I sucked them down like candy. After my first bout ever with bronchitis back in the beginning of November, I'm smoke free. Not being able to breath and having to be on an inhaler for a while scared the doo doo out of me Quote
simplejoe Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I smoke about a pack a day and chew about a can in 3-4 days. I smoke when I'm not at work and chew at work. I think both are disgusting and will quit at some point. How much they charge for smokes any more is ridiculous. $5.85 a pack > Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 I gave up smokes after ten years and took up chew. I prefer chew over smokes. It's easy to conceal your chew from the public but you can't conceal the stink from cigarettes. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 Have done both. They are both equally bad for the individual. The one thing I will mention: No one has ever developed cancer from second-hand spitting. Never pull out a pack of smokes around SB. After two days on the boat you'll be completely out. Quote

The Rooster Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Chew all over someone's teeth and lips looks so nasty I can't hardly stand to see it and always feel very sorry for those who seem totally unaware they look that bad to other people. Carrying around a bottle of spit is equally as disgusting and since the two go together, you can imagine how gross that I think it is. Smoking however, I'd have to say I hate worse. My stepdaughter smokes, after being raised and preached to about the dangers, horrors, disgust of, and anything else that goes with it. She smells sooooo bad when she comes into a room, and when she talks to me I have to turn my head. It makes me want to vomit when I catch a whiff of her breath, that's theee most disgusting smell I have ever had to endure. I'd rather sniff a dog's *** after a fresh dump. I do not smoke, I do not chew, I have never done either one (except experimented with cigarettes as a kid for about 1/2 a pack before swearing off permanently). I do not understand how anyone would ever start on such a nasty habit and stick with it long enough for it to become a habit. There are those who think it tastes good, but is this something you have to learn?? How can smoke taste good?? It stinks so bad it could not possibly taste good. I have personally tasted it, and it's as nasty as I'm making it sound right now. I can see chew tasting good with all the flavors and mints available, but it's so strong that it can't truely be that enjoyable. Either one you do, they cost so much money that I would be put off just by that alone. And the risks of cancer, that's another "alone" put off factor. I not only find it disgusting and smelly, risky, and costly, but I am mostly personally offended even being around people who smoke. They stink so bad I can't stand it, and it's a smell that doesn't wash out, it's in your body whether you are currently smoking or not. I can tell if you smoke just by standing near you even if you have freshly showered and are still wet, dressed in only a towel and not smokey clothes (my stepdaughter comes out of the shower wrapped in only towels and she still wreaks of the nasty filth). I think chewing is disgusting but smoking I just plain dispise. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 My old roommate began smoking this past year. I think it's rude for smokers to smoke around non smokers as well. I don't like to have to smell it constantly. I also have asthma to some degree so it effects how I breathe. Most of the bars I now go to have a no smoking policy. I used to hate coming home from the bar and smelling like an ash tray. Quote

In my defense, that was a very stressful two days. Between the sunburn, lack of sleep and schooling you and Dan fishing the jig, I was pretty burned out... ;D I havent had one for two weeks and two days. It really started to make me feel like crap, so I just up and quit. No biggie. Quote
Korea_Bassin Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 OK...I'm a smoker...and after much encouragement (nagging) from my wife, I plan to quit smoking for the new year. Anyone want to join me? You know, misery loves company! Anyone interested, let me know...I'd love to have a partner in this. Having said that, this won't be the first time I've quit. I wasn't before and I won't be this time the person who thinks that just because I've quit, EVERYONE ELSE should quit. Its a personal choice and I accept it that way. Quote
