After close to 15 years of chewing tobacco, I stoped over a month ago. Today was a huge test as a buddy and I went to Cabelas on a few hour journey and I loved to do it on trips.  I passed the test. However, since I knew I would be saving over $1000 this year from stopping, I have been spending money like water. Lots of new lures, swimbait rod, swimbaits that cost a few $$. Althpough I am happy that I quit, I feel I would have been better off financially had I kept doing it.

It's tough, I have struggled with for almost 20 years myself. I have been dip free for almost 8 months now. I have other spells where I was off it for as long as a year, and a few other times for a few months, to as little as a few weeks. I HAVE to stay off it this time. I ain't getting any younger, and I don't want it to do any (more) damage.

That is one addiction I haven't dealt with. ::) As a long time smoker who has been a non-smoker for many years I can tell you that the biggest savings from quitting will likely be in reduced medical costs long term. It does not take much health care to equal the cost of a boat load of tackle. Hang in there. Good luck.

Keep it up. The rough areas on the inside of your lip, smokers keratosis, is actually a precancerous lesion. The longer you chew, the more likely it is to develop into oral cancer. Very nasty stuff there.

The money spending, well... I do not think that is precancerous so you should be ok.  ;)

Congrats on your quitting.

mmmmmmmmm Beeeaaachnuuuuut !!!!!! yummy

I chewed for about 15 years about 2 pouches a week and then I just decided to quit , so I did. I had quit before for several months at a time. No biggy for me. I can quit when I want to. The last time I quit it was for about 4 or 5 years. Then just recently I felt like buying a bag. It was glorious!!!!! I know its bad for me so I figure one or two bags a month. I do like it though, If it wasnt bad for me I would do it a lot more. I dont like the can stuff. I want chaw!

Id like to quit one day. But stress level is at all time highs right now and i can not foresee me quitting anytime soon. Maybe later when my jaw falls off i might quit..

I've been dipping for about 3 years now (Grizzly Straight). I've "quit" a few times but between working and college its a stress reliever as bad of an excuse as that is. I guess new years is around the corner though ;)

Congrats on quitting!

Good for you  :) I know it's hard to quit.I haven't had a chew of snuff since last Jan. I chewed Skoal for 35 years,I stopped for health and money reasons. Good Luck!

When my jaw falls off I might quit? Is that what you really mean?

I don't chew, (tried once, got sick as a dog), but do teach about it's harmful consequences to my Middle School students.

If any of you do chew, I hope you can quit. I'd hate to see any of you have to go through what this guy has endured.

Good Luck
