I don't think it's fair to imply ALL employees of discount department stores have low morals, or are uneducated.  I'm guessing nobody here really means to do that, so just be cautious how you phrase things.

Case in point: I worked as a janitor (building maintenance) at J.C. Penny while maintaining a 4.0 average in college.  Yet folks who saw me pushing a broom or cleaning toilets treated me as inferior, discounted what I said, or just plain ignored me.

I now make it a habit to extend a friendly "hi" to every janitor, street sweeper, or garbage collector etc. I see BEFORE I acknowledge others in the same room.

So just be careful about making general categorizations.  You really don't know the person wearing the uniform to make that judgement call.

On the flip-side of that: Dont believe that every person in a collared shirt and dress pants is an upstanding member of society (just watch the video) and has a Harvard education.

Looks can be very, very deceiving.

Yup. Excellent point. Some people have done that to me. I was working in retail trying save up money for fishing and books.

The point I was trying to make in regards to the discussion on K-Mart, which does not pertian to this case, is due to the argument on management philosophies being different it is not wonder they had to be bailed out.

Who said Kmart was bailed out? They went through chapter 11 bankrupcty, which got rid of some creditors then bought Sears.

I never said Kmart had best managers in the world, but the clearance system related to this topic, would be really hard to do at Kmart if employees knew their job like I did.  That all.

While the collection of like-new rods and reels might raise an eyebrow, I don't find the boxes of soft plastics to be all that unusual. I, for one, pick up a few packs of my favorite plastics whenever I happen to hit the mall where the Atl. BPS is located. It doesn't take all that long to wind up with boxes full of unopened packs in my favorite colors.

I've also been unemployed for the past 9 months, so I've had plenty of time to hit the clearance sections of most of my local retailers and "load up" on things that I will use...someday.

Just because someone has mass amounts of tackle doesn't mean they are thieves. I can think of 10 people (off the top of my head) from the forum and that I know personally off the site that have as much or more tackle. Are we to suspect all of them as thieves? This of course just for the people who keep commenting on how much tackle this guy has.

All these rods come from staffers. My uncle Fishes the stren series, and he is also a Falcon staffer. Through him, I've made friends with a lot of his friends that fish the Stren as well, and any time they want to get rid of stuff...they call me. I'll always buy everything they have. I basically do what 'brodie of the lake' does for the Elite Series guys. Been doing it for a few years now. Everything is priced at about what pro-staffers pay. I only make about $15 per rod.

Well clothes here and there is a lot less noticable then bringing home a 600 dollar tv or hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of fishing rods and reels consistently. Granted if they weren't together long or he had been doing it before they got together I might believe he would've been able to fool her.

Guys,you have to remember everybody makes mistakes.Lord knows i did.I don't hate him at all,i feel sorry for him in a sense and hope he gets some kind of help to beat this stealing addiction he may have.His better judgment got beat by the bait monkey(Possibly a evil twin?  ;D).There's a lesson to be learned from this...specially the young kids who can't afford stuff we sometimes show off.Some people have a problem with materialist.It can be a big,big problem and turn into an addiction.He probably couldn't afford the price tag so swapping stickers became his obsession.

I'm just looking at this another way.

Hopefully he'll man up,clean up and get help.That's my prayer for him.
