Super User Dan: Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 If Alabama (specifically McElroy) plays like they did against Florida, Texas is in trouble. If not, it will be close. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 8, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2009 It was an ugly win for sure. Colt has found ways to come from behind, ugly wins count. All time FBS winningest quarterback ever.  Catt said we don't play SEC defense.  We have changed that! , We appreciated that input, we decided to bring in a SEC defensive guru.  Its working.  What can I say about McElroy, I have never seen him lose a game in Texas or at Bama.  Great Tx product from a Nationally ranked HS team.  Ingram, one of the 5 best players in football. Cody can be mentioned in the same breathe as the "boy named Suh" from Nebraska. Julio, threat anywhere, short, crossing, sidelines, and deep. Colt seemed to be under the Heisman pressure early in the season, as soon as it was reported he played him self out of the race, he started putting it together.   I think he felt that burden again Saturday.   Heisman will not be hanging over his head in Jan.   I just pray that Texas don't lay an egg like OU has for the Big XII in recent years. Super User Catt Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 Here's exactly what happened: There were 24 incomplete passes in the Texas-Nebraska game. On every one of them every single one (I know, I went back and checked in slow motion) the game clock ticked off that second, and sometimes another. That's how it always works in this and every other game: There's a bit of a human element (the eye sending the message to the brain, the brain relaying it to the finger on the clock button, the electronic impulses prompting the clock to stop). And so, when Colt McCoy inexplicably decided to run a play with six seconds remaining instead of calling timeout or, well, showing any sense of urgency, he rolled out and threw the ball away, way out of bounds, as the clock ticked down to 0:00. bigtimfish Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Here is my outlook on it. Do I want the Horns to win, of course I do. I have been saying that and got into a few arguments with a few people on here before the season started that UT was gonna be in this game. Anyway, I want them to win. Do I think they can beat Bama? If they played like they did against the Huskers, they will get slaughtered. Key points in that game that some of ya'll may have missed are #21 Gideon dropped yet another INT. #11 Kirkendoll dropped like 3 very catchable passes. One of which could have gone for a TD down the sideline. Little things like that really add up. I also think they should mix up the running game. Run someone besides Newton all of the time. Also use the option. The Huskers did a very very good job of shutting down the short passing game, and it's obvious the run game is weak. Mix it up, pass down field more, let fozzy and Johnson run the ball some, and STOP DROPPING PASSES. IMO they do have a good D. Kindle is very quick, Muckleroy is also very good. Good secondary with the exception of dropped INT's. The best part of the UT D is they can shut down a run game real quick. Mcelroy hopefully will have to pass and get picked off. If the Horns do win, It will be because of the defense. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 8, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2009 If anyone would know some home cookin, it would be the SEC officials for sure. Or did they have to borrow some to finish the season due to suspensions of your crews for poor calls all year? Â LOL We didn't stand a chance against the "Greatest College Team EVER" in the 2005 Rose Bowl either, and how did that turn out? Â Â Â National Champs!!!! We gonna watch Bevo do the Bevo Stomp!!!! Big Mike in Fl Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Bama will cut Bevo up into steaks .How do you want yours served ? I always thought that would be the greatest prank ever for the sooners to kidnap Bevo, then invite over the long horns for a cook out, beef ribs, prime rib, steaks etc etc.... only after they eat, tell them its bevo, but then in the end give bevo back *** No Bevo's were harmed in the making of this post*** but seriously, I'll bet Bevo's steaks would be juicy and sweet! Super User Root beer Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 All I want for Christmas is a national championship. Last time Alabama won a national title, I was 2 years old. Before that, I wasn't alive. Here my prediction, a defensive struggle, in which Alabama will methodically wear down Texas and take over in 4th quarter to pull away. To say Terrance Cody is on same level as Suh, is ridiculous. Cody is a run stopper, he literally plug holes up and leave gaps for linebackers to run through unblocked. While Suh can get to QB in matter for second. Cody cannot get to QB as fast as Suh can. Suh has a better edge and quickness than Cody to get to QB. I don't think Cody will get to Colt McCoy like Suh did, however, if Texas try to run down the middle it will be suicide. With that said, I think Suh will win more defensive awards than Cody. I've heard Suh name all season long, but when I saw him play Saturday, oh my gosh he was absolutely dominating. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 8, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2009 Its simple respect given to the other team, sometimes called good sportsmanship!  Bama might not be there if Cody hadn't of blocked the FG against Tenn.  I think Cody was responsible for that.     If you want to run the ball, you better account for Cody! You better know he comes in on goal line offensive plays like Suh does!    Bama don't want any BEVO steaks, Neb has cornfed beef, much better than that ole range cattle steak.   I'll keep saying it.  Slaying Goliath will be no easy task.  I hope we do the Big XII proud and not lay the golden goose egg!   Quote

Ain't that the truth, however, given the mess the BCS has in calculating formula, we might still made it. I think you are wrong on "Slaying Goliath". I think they will be match up real well. Media just sells the hype to get attention which creates more advertising revenue. Which ever team feels less pressure and more focus will win. Quote
