Super User Matt Fly Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 The Texas Longhorns are 25-1 the past two seasons, on a 17 game win streak. I'll just say we've heard it all before!!!!!!!! Colt played so so to start the year, it wasn't until they said he played himself out of the Heisman race, that he actually started to playing good. Well, we don't stand a chance against Bama, and we gladly take the underdog role again. The last time we heard that was in 2005, when Vince Young didn't win the Heisman!!!!!! and.......... the greatest college team ever, USC, was gonna embarass Texas, and how did that work!!!!! 2005 National Champions!!!! Hookem Horns! TCU, Cincy, Texas, all deserving, great seasons! Quote
tbird Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Yup, Texas pulled it off barely..had me sweating big time especially with 1 second to play. The national championship game will be very interesting Go Horns !! T Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 Matt, did Colt suffer a concussion? He looked confused and his post game comments were not crisp. Mack Brown almost made LSU's Les Miles look smart at the end of the game. Bama was on their "A" game against Florida so the Longhorns need to get ready to play a physical game. If Colt wins the Heisman, then Bama will win the game. If not, who knows??????? Quote
Simp Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I said to my Dad when Nebraska ran out on the field "They're trying to steal the game right here!". I've seen many games end this way because the refs don't have the balls to stand up and say it's not over yet. I was glad to see the refs stand up to the crazy coach who was going insane trying to end it right then and there. Just to point out I have no rooting interest in either team. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 Nebraska handed Texas their first loss Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2009 That ole wink don't seem to mean anything. We won an ugly game. I witnessed the Tigers losing twice to 2 unranked teams and still get the media vote to be in the title game and you jest that Texas lost. thats funny and typical SEC love. What was you saying yesterday about Urban Meyer. Wrong again!! Bama whopped them good Josie!!!! 13-0 Quote

Never been a fan of the Heisman, it takes a team to accomplish the goals of a team. So you know my cry, "don't care about the heisman, just the crystal, what does an individual award do for the fan? Not alot to brag on 20 years from now amoungst your buds! Best player in College football is a "boy named Suh". I still think a playoff system would be watered down this year. The only reason BSU and TCU are there is cause teams just refused to win in the top ten, 15 teams lose, somebody is gonna move up to take those spots someday. BSU beat Oregon opening day and never played anyone good again, so one game made them a BCS team. Their conference is 9 teams, and the last week, 6 of those teams combined for 12-29 in conf. play. Nevada's win streak came from those weaklings in the WAC. So BSU Beat one team all year that was good and that made them top 10, nope, everyone lost and they moved up cause someone had to be there. Texas did no better, they took care of business, they were just blessed on high ranking to start the season. Based on the above team, Texas beat Ohio State to end its season with BCS win. BSU won its lesser Bowl to end the season thus the higher preseason ranking. Cincy ended its first conf. championship in the Big East and lost to VT in the BCS Orange Bowl. Thus, their preseason ranking. Ya'll hookem, going to earn some xmas money! Hookem Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 Come on down to the big pond & I'll give you a Tiger beat down I just hope both Texas & Bama play their best! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 Matt Fly, I agree completely about the other unbeaten teams. This year has been very strange. I'm still excited to see the cross-conference comparisons after the bowl results are in. Your Horns will get into the big bowl game this year. They have an opportunity to do something much more impressive than squeaking by a good-not-great Ohio State team like last year. ;D Quote
Super User Root beer Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Posted December 6, 2009 From the man that was born on Alabama's campus, I'm looking forward to January 7th. Assuming Texas doesn't get snub by voters. We find out tonight at 8pm who playing who. Quote

The officials had to review to make sure if there was a timing error or not didnt they? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 7, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 7, 2009 I don't watch college football anymore these days. The whole ranking "system", and especially the "national" championship title is so skewed, biased, and unrealistic that it no longer holds any meaning at all. Without a true playoff system, it's all just one big east coast popularity contest anyway. I don't see how a voting system can be anything but. And before you spend the energy to come up with some witty remark about a Washington state team, know that I'm no fan of those teams either. They're bad, period. And no amount of votes will change that. But at least we'd know exactly where they rank if there were a true, honest system. Just my opinion. Like I said, I don't follow it anymore, so what does it matter anyway? Quote
Super User Root beer Posted December 7, 2009 Super User Posted December 7, 2009 I wish it was Boise State vs Florida, TCU Vs Georiga tech and let Cincy beat up Iowa. Let the two non-traditional power team i.e. boise and tcu play against traditional power. Plus it be fun to watch TCU defense against Georiga tech and see how Boise match up with Florida. Quote

How were they trying to steal the game. The clock showed :00 which typically means the end of the game when its the 4th quarter and one teams ahead. The officials had to review to make sure if there was a timing error or not didnt they? It's very common for refs to inform the scorer to reset the game clock to a certain time. You can't tell me that each person in that stadium and on TV was not paying attention to the clock. I'm sure also that both coaches knew that the clock could be reviewed to make sure the correct time was up. They stormed the field and even after they went back and reviewed the clock the Nebraska coach was screaming like a 6 year old wanting a new toy or in this case to end the game. A similar thing happened earlier this year in a Notre Dame game. I can't remember who they we playing. However it was the end of the game and ND was behind with a few seconds left. The other team kicked the ball out to the otherside of the endzone. The clock ticked off a couple seconds and the ref informed the home team to put 10 seconds on the clock. Well both teams lined up and while ND was getting ready to snap the ball the clock mysteriously all of a sudden went to 7 seconds before the snap. ND sideline is going nuts pointing to it but they had no time outs. They run the play and gain 50 or 60 yards on it and the reciever runs out of bounds when the click ticked zero. The opposing team charges the field, the refs run of the field, and ND coaching staff runs after them trying to get their 3 second back that disappeared off the clock. I have no doubt Nebraska tried to end that game right then and there. Many times this tactic works but this time it didn't. Again I'm not a fan of either team but rather have seen this type of stuff and don't like it. It's one thing if the players alone do it but the coach was halfway across the field before they got him to turn back. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 7, 2009 Super User Posted December 7, 2009 The clock was at 0. They thought the game was over. Where does the malicious intent come from? See it from their perspective, they probably thought the time was gone and they had won...I would argue to defend that position as well, especially with Texas in FG range. Coaches argue about calls that are correct all the time, it's just that they see things differently from their perspective. When you are playing in the game, you want to see things a certain way. They aren't being cheaters, they just honestly see things differently. Quote

Everyone does it. Anyway, I'm glad the Horns got by Neb, they deserve it (as one could argue for other teams) and i think it will be a good game, no matter how little the media thinks the Horns have a chance. Quote

Either way I figure it will be a good game definitely not a blow out either way. T Quote

I know Texas had an undefeated season but the Big 12 was a little watered down this year wasn't it? I guess we could say that for the SEC too, except for the previously undefeated Gators. But none of that matters now, I really hope you're right about the Horns. I dont pull for either team....I just want to see a good game. Quote
fathom Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 have watched almost every bama and florida game this year...three of texas'. in bama/florida, i saw bama set up in offensive and defensive schemes i've yet to see in previous games this year...obviously, florida watched and relied on films from those previous games. if coach mack does the same, it'll not only be a long night in pasadena, it'll be a long night in texas. The BCS Championship is just one game, either team can win. However, even as a Big 12 fan, Alabama has the edge. :-/ Quote
