Been having a problem the last two days of my IE internet freezing on me. Its updated.

So basicly after I've been on the net a few minutes it wants to freeze up on me, I click anything to move forward and it just quits? I go to refresh it and that won't work? But if I hit the back button it will go back no problem?

I have ZApro, ZAforcfield, AVG, MalwareBytes and AdvanceWindow care, I've updated and used every tool I have to find the problem with no luck. I use Advance window care for clean up and tune up, Malware and scanned, ran AVG but nothen?

I shut down all ZA apps, and I thought it worked but it came back again? also when I open more than one IE windows it happens faster.

Any ideas?

Revert back to a good version of Windows before the problem began.  Easiest thing to do.

Is that like a restore? or not

Yep, system restore.

Folks - the question was how to fix the problem, not what browser should I use.  Let's keep it on topic please.

Thanks Glenn but restore did not work, it won't restore that far back, my closest restore point is two days ago. Im wondering If I can remove IE and re-install it?

I wont go back to IE.... I have had ZERO problems since converting to Fire Fox ;)

i won't go back to IE either, but i still have problems with firefox. IE would make my computer run terribly slow and crappy, firefox doesn't do this, but many many times it will have trouble opening a page. this usually happens when i click on a link to a page. it also happens every single time i go to wikipedia and type something in the search bar on the homepage. in order for me to browse wikipedia, i have to click on the "english" button on the main page then it works fine. The error that always comes up with is "Server not found. FireFox cannot find the server at: [website url]". bugs me to hell but i still like firefox better.

Thanks again Glenn, I favorite that one :)

I'll tell ya what I did, I uninsulated my ZoneAlarm Pro and AVG 9.0

went back and loaded up the old versions and so far so good, I read that AVG 9.0 had some issues and a recent ZApro update was messin with windows so I did what I did and again so far so good 8-)

Now I'm concerned about the updates again :-/, Don't wanna go thru this stuff again but its gotta update sometime, any ideas on what to do better?

If you can't resolve the problem, you might consider using a different browser. Apple's Safari, Google's Chrome, and Mozilla's Firefox are all pretty good (and I believe each of them runs faster than IE)

I know this isn't a direct answer to your specific question but it might be the only way to resolve the problem and still be able to run all your updates (plus increase your browsing speed)

Well, it appears the problem was with other software, and NOT IE, so I don't see the point in changing browsers.  It's yet another piece of software on your computer that can conflict with others.

Which takes me to those updates....dude, you have a ton of anti-virus/anti-malware programs on your computer.  No wonder you're having issues.  I suspect you're having performance issues too.

I run two anti-malware programs (Spybot search & destroy, and Ad-Aware), plus PC-cillan (Trend).  These, coupled with the occasional scan by an online scanner like Panda or Kaspersky is all you really need.

.

Exactly, so if he wants to keep the other stuff, a good solution would be to use a different browser. Sure, the conflict is still there, but it won't bother him anymore.

Anyway, I do agree with Glenn about too many antimalware programs. Just get yourself a good on-demand anti-malware scanner and an always-on anti-virus program. You'll be more than adequately secure with that.

Try going into an antivirus company's website, and check to see if your software will update. That is how I discovered that I had a virus on my pc.

Also make sure that your video drivers are updated to work with the new browser.

Sorry, but That was my suggestion on "fixing the problem". It was how I fixed my problems with IE. :)

Switching browsers is not a fix, it's a workaround at best.  It's a possibility that if you're running a lot of different malware/adware/virus protection programs, that they are fighting for control over the protection of your browser.  You could try disabling them all, checking your performance, and then start turning them on one by one, with performance checks afterward, to see where you run into problems.

Im still running great :) so its between my AVG update or my Zonealarm pro update, (im thinking its AVG)

I run AdvanceWindow care pro for tune ups, and clean ups every day and its set on auto.

I have malware bytes but I have used that twice this year, once in the (actually caught a problem that nothen else could)begining of the year and once here recently. Thats it.

I have free AVG virus protection and have always had it.

I run ZoneAlarm Pro for firewall protection and I have ZA forcefield cause Im just trying it out.

I paid for stuff to prevent infections, this was my hope.

I don't see anything conflicting, if I ran the malware and windowcare aginst each other then I could see the conflict.

I still have to deal with the updates for AVG and the ZA

FYI on the fellas that offer the FireFox, I tried it and started a 4 month thread on it sometime back and it does not work well with Satelight users, this is what we found out. Besides it was alot harder to use because you had to learn add ons and the such, was quit a pain. so I'm pass the browser hype, cool tho  8-)

Just as a question, have you given Google Chrome or Apple Safari a try? I found both to be faster than IE and Firefox.

Oh come on, I bought 3 licenses that last for 2 years each of BitDefender for $30...Just look around. You just aren't going to get the same kind of protection with free programs as you will with programs you buy.

I know Glenn uses PC-Cillin, as does my dad. It is very highly rated. So are BitDefender, Kaspersky, and ESET's NOD32...

As far as I know, all have very good detection rates but NOD32 uses the least system resources (it is also the most expensive from what I've seen)
