Okay! I have heard so much about this rig that I am going to try it out.

First, which plastics are best for this rig? Second, where is the best place to fish this rig? Shallow or Deep Water?

Also, I have heard that Fluorocarbon line is recommended, why is this?

Sent you a PM about Wacky fishing.

As for where to throw the rig?  Anywhere!

If you fish it weedless you can throw it into bushes and brush and wood in addition to open water.

Practice "skipping" it under docks and bushes and trees.  Great bait to skip.  Just be sure to reel in the bait to the top of your rod when skipping it so you will have better control.

I caught two in a row off docks on Buggs Island/Lake Kerr this year.  I was throwing a Senko.

Read my PM and you will have a great time fishing Senkos Wacky style.  In fact, this is the way I fish my Senkos 90% of the time.

Hey Sam, is there any way you could copy and paste that PM over my direction as well?  I'm very new to plastic's still and I'm always looking for information that can help me out.

I've attempted wacky rigging before, but I haven't had a whole lot of luck yet.

Anyways, I'd appreciate it a lot.   ;)

I'm new to plastics so i thought best way to learn is to try them out.  Just bought a plastic kit off cabelas.  hoping to try them out this weekend.

When I wacky rig worms I use different ones for different situations.

First I always use an octopus hook about 2/0.

When fishing in shallower water 1-8 feet, I use a Zoom Trick Worm. They are light, but cast just fine with a well-spooled spinning reel. Cast, let it sink for about 20 seconds. Make sure to keep some line tension to feel for hits. Then I reel in a little and let it flutter again.

For deeper water I use the same technique, but when fishing ledges and drop offs or deeper structure I fish Senko style baits wacky.

I always use natural colors such as Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Black and sometimes Junebug. I personally do not like shad-colored worms for wacky worming, but that's just me.

I know you're smothered with requests on the wacky PM, but I'd like one also, if possible. ;) I've tried some wacky rigging, but the only type I've been effective with is the dying minnow style. (soft swimbait hooked slightly in front of center body and slices in the bottom of the bait to make it more pliable on the "tugs". I'd really like to work on wacky worm presentations. thanks!

would you also like to forward the PM to me? thanks

Sam, you've probably lost any and all ambition to send the PM.  If you haven't, I'd greatly appreciate whatever it is that has everyone begging.

Besides knowing next to nothing about it (except for the pictures I've seen), I'm scared to throw an exposed hook around all of this TN rock.

In fact, this is the way I fish my Senkos 90% of the time.

100% for me.

If you look at the design of a trick stick, it is cigar shaped.  The tapered ends make a shimmy kind of wiggle when it is presented vertically (wacky)  When wacky'd, BOTH ends wiggle and it has a slow, STEADY vertical fall.  IMO, this is the way the bait was designed to be fished, getting the MAX wiggle out of it.  Not saying t-rigging doesn't work, sure does, but wacky rigging maximizes the baits potential.

Senkos (and all the lures like the Senko) are great for wacky rigging. Use a weedless worm hook for snaggy areas, or dock skipping. Use a weighted hook or a jighead for deeper water.

One of my favorites for vertical structure.

Take a wild guess what I caught my profile picture fish on?

(Dropped a Tiki-Stik beside the bridge support, ya think?) 8-)

My take on wacky rigging these lures:

How exactly do you fish this, do you cast it out let it sink and twich it or cast it out and twitch it back to the boat or just cast it, twicth it and let it sit and twitch it again?

Thanks for the replies by the way. ;)

That's a good point. You know, I almost never wacky-rig senkos, but it makes sense that the action would be more wiggly when wacky-rigging. I guess I'll break out my wacky hooks and try it out next time. The only thing that worries me is hookup ratio. When t-rigged, I miss maybe one in 10 or 20 bites, and that's probably because it's a dink. I just don't have confidence in those teeny hooks. LBH - would you please pass the confidence?

who says you have to use teeny hooks? i wacky rig with a 4/0 gamakatsu g-lock EWG worm hook...same hook i t-rig with.
