I'm heading back to work Nov. 30th....after almost a year long of being laid off.I got called back to my old job.

It's a sign and feeling of relief i tell ya.Specially for being in Michigan.

That's great news G...i was a little worried for you this year. We got 2 (of 4) back that were laid off in march. Keep that train a' rollin!!!!

Way to go Matt!! Both my sons got called back to work last week. Both had been out of work since January. Things are looking up.

Thanks guys! Things are definitely looking up.They hired 10 of us back,most of us were 5-10 years with the company.

Seriously thankful we made it through this rough patch. 

Still praying for everybody else out there yet.

If you don't mind answering as to what field you are in.  I am originally from the Detroit area before moving to Fla.  I'm interested in what areas are picking up, my field was scrap metals.

Raw material slitting & mill operations.80% of the steel we slitted was for auto parts.Whatever steel we scrapped and didn't use I wouldn't be surprised if you guys got.Scrap metal was hurting for awhile there too.

Back in the early 90's my partner and I bought out one of our customers (was in bankruptcy), a slitting co in Oak Park.  We slitted master coils on a 60" slitter, eventually going to Granite City, Il. and buying a much better slitting line.

My speciality item was pressed iron powder containing traces of copper and ni, which makes gears for transmissions and other auto and off road items.  Until I got this account, can't say the name, I always thought gears were made out of steel, for many they are not.  Being in the steel field I thought you may have found that interesting.
