bass ADDICTION Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 when I get ready to go fishing I know I bring certain things and do things specifically............ but what do you bring just in case the bass aren't biting..... or when the bass aren't biting and you want to fish for a different species of fish? Still a Bigbuckifan Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I always bring a castnet, ultralight , minnow net and a gig . you never know what might happen. Quote
jvox Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 1 1/2" Mr. Twisters, Mepps spinners, small jigs, and if all else fails, PLENTY OF BEER. ;D Quote
Boogey Man Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Usually some Rooster Tails and small Rapala floating minnows. Figure if the bass aren't biting, might as well catch some bluegill or whatever may be biting. I fish a lot of really clear water and these baits also catch a lot of bass when the bass aren't hitting "bass" lures. Quote
fretfishman Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I always bring a float and fly for when the bass aren't biting. most of the time I'll catch the bass with this anyway or at least catch some nice crappie. just bring a couple different dry and wet flies that match the hatch as best possible and a couple pistol petes. start with the petes and, if they aren't being hit, you can go to standard flies. it's pretty hard for fish to resist so it's a good backup plan. I just fill the float completely so it creates little or no wake and retrieve it slowly. Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I agree with whoever said "PLENTY OF BEER". If you can't catch any fish, at least you can catch a buzz! Worms and a bobber never seem to fail to catch some gills when there's nothing else. Quote
kms399 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I always bring my bow so i can try to thin the carp population. Quote
The Rooster Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I just keep right on fishing for bass using any lure I have. Weightless worm, weightless Zoom Fluke, texas rig, carolina rig, crankbait, spinnerbait, buzzbait, and also Worden's Roostertails which are one of my primary bass lures and I catch a lot of 1 lb. fish with them. Around 12 to 14 inches in length. I carry over 100 of just those, not counting the Blue Fox spinners I also have. But mainly if bass don't bite on one thing, I'll switch to a different color or size of the same lure, or a different type of lure and go through 2 or 3 colors and sizes of it before switching again. I almost always can catch at least 5 or 6 bass no matter what's going on, many times more than that, so I think the key is if they aren't biting.......just keep on fishing for them using something else until they do. Super User Gatorbassman Posted June 30, 2008 Super User Posted June 30, 2008 A good sandwich and a Mountain Dew so I can take some time to regroup and rethink the situation. Then it's back to bass fishing. Quote
fishbear Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Several bottles of water, and some summer sausage or pepperoni sticks..... like Fluke said,, to regroup and take a breather. In this Georgia heat, you dont want to get dehydrated. Oh, and a tube? of starburst,,, Quote
