Super User roadwarrior Posted November 18, 2009 Super User Posted November 18, 2009 Memphis has possibly the best recruiting class in the nation coming up next year. Although this year has been generally written off as a "rebuilding" year, the Tigers lost to #1 ranked Kansas last night. by only two points. Even die-hard Rock Chalk Jawhawk fans might admit, Memphis cooda-wooda-shooda won that game! On the other hand, 35% shooting from the field isn't going to cut it. You just wouldn't think, with those numbers, the game would be so close. 8-) Quote
daviscw Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Yep, now would be a great time to jump on the bandwagon! Quote
ring fry Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 RW, that was a butt-ugly game! Pastner has got them playing hard. As a die hard Jayhawk fan I didn't think we deserved to win that game. But, then again, we shouldn't have won the last time we met. Kansas played about as bad as we could, but a lot of that was because of the Tigers defense. I think Memphis will be pretty good, but they are fairly short and do not have a deep bench. College basketball is still the greatest sport on earth! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 19, 2009 Super User Posted November 19, 2009 Ring Fry, Too bad we only meet once this year during regular season. Do we play in Texas or Kansas? and thats not until Feb at that. Good luck in the Big XII Hookem Quote
ring fry Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Matt, it's in Austin on Feb. 8th. Should be a great year for the Hawks and the Horns. Both teams are experienced, big, and deep. I'd just soon skip this coming Saturday. With Mangino in serious doo-doo and playing down there, it could will be fugly. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 19, 2009 Super User Posted November 19, 2009 Been hearing former players and their comments. Would have never thought it! Watched some good ball this morning, #19 GT just lost to #21 Dayton. Getting ready to watch #11 Cal and #24 Syracuse play at the Garden, neutral, but home game for the Cuse. Take the Big East on this one. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted November 19, 2009 Super User Posted November 19, 2009 I know this might be little off topic and sorry to do this. Any of you die hard college b-ball fans got any prediction on when Anthony Grant or if he can turned Alabama basketball program into a solid program? I know they lost to Cornell to open the season, but I heard good things about Grant and he been successful everywhere he been. I remember when Alabama made it to the elite 8 and lost to Uconn, but since then Alabama has struggle mighty. Be nice to beat Tennessee, so I can make all my classmate mad. ;D Quote
aarogb Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Yeah I was hoping Kansas would lose that game. It would have moved the Tarheels up in the polls. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 20, 2009 Super User Posted November 20, 2009 The "young" Tarheels" looked very good for this early in the season. Very impressed. 8-) Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I'm not sure how much they will win but the Illini have a chance to be interesting this year. Can't be any worse than the football team no matter what happens. Quote
