What's up with the Bronco's?

A good quote that comes to mind is:

"They are who we thought they were" -Dennis Green

In the first 6 games, Denver was playing way over their heads. They've come back to reality now.

Well then what level are your Raider's playing at Scott? ;D

Well, my preseason prediction was 6-10, so

there's no downside! The Broncos were the

biggest NFL surprise in the early going, reality

has set in. Even if they slip into the play-offs,

they don't have the horsepower to compete with

the elite teams. Denver's roster is mostly new,

from the head coach down. Still, we don't miss

Cutler!

If nothing else, Denver has demonstrated some promise of things to come.  I expect them to get better and better each season.  So they're definitely a team to watch out for.

My Seahawks on the other hand....put a fork in 'em. They're done!  :(

Mike, Mike, Mike  ...we've been over this before. I'll give you a quick refresher though:

The Raiders are football challenged at the moment*....please bear with them.

Chicago fans know the Broncos did not get better with Orton at QB, a serviceable QB but not a franchise QB, a good guy that will do whatever he humanly can, but not elite QB. That may be all he needs to do to win. In his rookie season Orton won 9 games he started, having less than 100 yards but taking care of the ball. He will not have many INTs. :'(

With a good running game, a team can hide their QB and get away with him not doing a whole lot and still be competitive. There are several teams that do that these days because there's a lack of elite QB's in the league right now.

I wouldn't put Romo on there, and lately maybe not Eli yet (yes even though he has the ring).  Big Ben I go back and forth on.  Peyton is quickly becomng the best QB ever.

On that note, back to the thread...everyone thinks you need a top caliber QB to win championships when in reality it's been shown that you really don't if you have good talent around an intelligent, competent QB.  A great QB doesn't hurt mind you, but a good game manager can win you a Superbowl.

Let me preface by saying this;

HAIL!

They did start out better than most thought. A lot better. But I don't see them slipping, nor do I see themn even making the playoffs. The Chargers will prevail as they have shown before.

As far as the elite. Def not Romo. He is starting to look like December Romo already. And I can't wait for our d-line to rattle him up a little this weekend. Whoo!

When did this happen??  :-?

Rivers? Really?

I think he is definitely in the top 5. He led the league in touchdown passes and had the highest QB rating last year. He has the third highest passer rating among active players (ahead of Tom Brady), and does it behind a mediocre offensive line. He hasn't won a Superbowl yet, but neither has Drew Brees and he is considered an elite QB. The main reason Rivers hasn't won one is because of the weak Charger secondary.

Yeah, Rivers looks good on paper, I'll give him that.

Oh yeah, ;D they went 8-8 and made the playoffs only because they were a division winner. Meanwhile, the Patriots went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. :-?

When NewAngler posted that the Chargers 'will prevail like before', I thought he had something good.

The Chargers are expected to win the west with the roster they have and playing in the weakest division in football. Prevailing though? Hardly.

Hey, a playoff birth is a playoff birth. And they did beat the 12-4 Colts before losing to the eventual champions. I'm sure the Raiders would love a 9-8 record and a playoff win, but, well...... Bruce Gradkowski.  ;D

The Chargers are one of the luckiest teams in football for no farther than they go. Somehow they pull off all of these barely winning seasons and make the playoffs at the expense of the choking teams in their division. Rivers has a huge variety of targets to pass to, none of which are under 8 feet tall or have less than a 3 foot vertical.. one of the best receiving groups in the league. If anything they under achieve quite a bit. I have to give them their props, they have knocked my Colts out a couple time from the playoffs (they always just to go on to lose I might add), for some reason they just don't match up well with the Chargers.  I'm hoping the Broncos hold on to this one this year and keep the Chargers out.  Guess well see this week.

Regardless of the team records, this weeknd's

match-up is always a big game. If the Broncos

win, they can turn their season back around. Both

teams REALLY need to win this game for

confidence and momentum.

GO BRONCOS!

Actually I believe it has been proven over and over that a good, punishing defence wins championships. Like the Ravens winning with Dilfer, or the Giants stopping the Patriots, my favorite was the 85 Bears scoring 20+ point in defence.

You want a good QB to be able to have a come from behind win like many Elway and Favre had; but you are right, a good QB to manage the games is fine, specially behind a good run offence.

Good Call. I thought their season was better last year, and I thought they went deeper in the playoffs in 07 when New England played them.

Rivers is one of the best right now. If any team could pick a QB to build their team around he would be#1 or #2. Breeze would be the other top guy. Brady and Payton are slightly better but they are older. Rivers is probably the most under rated player in the NFL because he plays on a small market team. I would rank Rivers in the top 5 of all curent players. I dont think he has ever lost a game for his team. He also makes just about no mistakes and out of the very few pics he has most of them hit his recievers. All the experts Rank him very high. He does all this with a weak line and he is constantly preasured. He has almost no running game for support. He makes all those passes when the defence knows he is going to pass. He makes every throw there is and continualy brings his team back in the 4th quarter to win.

He is that good!

The only argument against Rivers is lack of a ring, but this a team sport and we are comparring individuals.

The top current QB's are Payton, Brady, Breeze and Rivers. They are the top tier. Most of the football "experts" and writers agree on this.

I agree that they have underachieved somewhat the past few seasons. But the rest just sounds like sour grapes from a Colts fan. Rivers does have some good wideouts to throw too, but don't forget that Peyton had Harrison, Wayne and Clark in those playoff loses (probably the best group of recievers at the time). They did lose afterwards both times, but to the eventual champion Steelers and the undefeated Patriots. Besides, if they were that lucky to beat Indy both times, I guess there was no possible chance of them getting lucky and winning the Pittsburg or New England game. :)
