Clayton Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I got four 7' MH Berkley lightning rods for about $96 and that includes shipping. Deal or No Deal??? Quote
The_Natural Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Academy around here will put them on sale for $25-$30 a couple of times a year. It's not a bad deal, but not something I would buy unless I needed four Lightning Rods Quote
gman2 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Thats up to you? If you feel it was a good deal for you I have one Lighting Rod it is an ok rod but it's like anything else you get what you pay for. And if your happy then thats all that matters. But compared to the $180.00 for a setyr or $120.00 for a Castaway then I would say for a quanity standpoint yeah good deal. But the rest is up to you. Quote
Clayton Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 the rods i got for 76 bucks then the shipping. My bro wants two of em. Honesty is appreciated on this guys if it as a terrible deal let me know and Ill stick em back on ebay! ;D Quote

Well thats another thing, money doesnt flow like a river round here so I have to get the best bang for my buck. I started using this rod about a year ago and I love it! But then again I have never thrown a 130-180 dollar rod. It is a little frustrating when I cant spend good money on good equipment. True story: I went to bass pro with my fishn buddy, money comes out of his ears, and he spent $$$$$620 bucks on lures and rod and reel. $341 on baits the rest on one rod and one reel!! He also has four calais on G loom rods!!! And to top it off a 2006 20" skeeter. He tells me when to show up and I do!!!!!!!!! But really guys let me know if i got burned, I thought it was a good deal but I need to be corrected if it wasnt. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Well, I just saw them at my local Wal-Mart on Monday on clearance........a bunch of them in a big box with a price tag of $24.95 each......I picked one up and it felt like a decent rod...but I would say you are getting what you pay for.... Clayton Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Right on borther, keep it coming guys. Quote
Rob G. Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Clay, deal. The Lightening Rod has been revamped for this year. I have not seen the new ones. We should see more deals like you got soon. I still use an older model Lightening Rod for one specific application, it works well for me, and has been a performer for several years. You did well, do not look back. Set it up and rip some lips. Matt Jungblut Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 i started with a lighting rod they are a decent rod but the more u spend the better they get so i would say yeah u got a pretty good deal fish them for a while and when u get more money upgrade someday maybe or maybe not all depends on u but them loomis rods sure are sweet Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Sounds more like a fair transaction, than a deal. They are retailing for $25 and you got 4 for $96. Saved $4. As mentioned before, if you NEED 4 of them,....sure but if you only need 1 or 2, just buy them locally. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 19, 2007 Super User Posted January 19, 2007 Lightning rods have been around for over 20 years. Before people started buying rods that cost a small mint, the original Lightning rods were one of the nicest rods out in the day. The original EVA foam, pistol grip LR series is in demand. As for your purchase? You certainly didn't lose any money on the deal if you really needed the rods or can resell them. Quote
