BassDeaton01 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this tragic situation. It's sad to think this could happen on a military base on American soil these days That guy will pay for what he did. Quote
seyone Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I'm actually surprised it took so long for someone to start a thread about this. It is such a terrible tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims families and the wounded. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 9, 2009 Super User Posted November 9, 2009 May God see them through this terrible tragedy. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 Seyone, I think that reason was because it could turn into such an explosive subject. I know from cruising a few of the other forums, it already has on some. Maybe it is a credit to our group that we've been able to control those emotions here. And I'm sure that many of us have also stopped to pray for all of the families that have been swept into this tragedy. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 Very unfortunate situation all the way around. Prayers and well wishes sent to all families involved. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 10, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 10, 2009 Tragic indeed. And really creepy because Fluke, Keri, and I were just there a few weeks ago. Fletchero lives there, and we haven't heard from him on this yet. Keith? Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 Tragic indeed. And really creepy because Fluke, Keri, and I were just there a few weeks ago. What's also creepy is that the shooter lived 5 houses up the street from my girlfriends parents. (several years ago) Quote
Super User flechero Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 It's pretty disgusting. I've tried to steer clear of the talk on this because I can't really remain civil about it. I have heard the life story of the coward about 20 times but have yet to just hear the names of the murdered read on the news. > There should be no details or publicity given to that animal. They should not be allowed to say his name. The only "good news" was a 60 second profile of the woman that took him down... she sustained 4 GSW's and kept fighting until the guy went down. What in incredible woman... a true hero that saved many lives. Why not use that as the big news story instead of showing all the would be idiots that you get famous by committing mass murder. Prayers for the families affected are awesome, please keep them coming. The Ft. Hood Soldiers and their families are a resilient bunch of people, in time they will bounce back from this but in the interim, a little comfort will be needed. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 This is our hero: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,572574,00.html SGT Kimberly Munley should receive both The Presidential Medal of Freedom and The Congressional Gold Medal of Honor. 8-) Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 10, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 10, 2009 Hey Keith, if it's any solace, I've heard more on the news about the killed and wounded, as well as SGT Munley, than I have about the gunman. Differences in local news coverage, I would guess. Quote
Super User flechero Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 Hey Keith, if it's any solace, I've heard more on the news about the killed and wounded, as well as SGT Munley, than I have about the gunman. Differences in local news coverage, I would guess. Glad to hear that! I guess they are accustomed to military backgrounds around here and since he is, that might explain some of it. Our local coverage is usually better... only guess that since he's military, they have access to all the same sources as they do for other military activity. Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 A terrible situation,I don't know what else to say. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 If anyone is interested, there will be a memorial service on the news channels here in a few minutes. Also, for Flechero or anyone else.... Here is a report from MSNBC that gives a brief profile of the victims. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33693222/ns/us_news Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 I've tried to steer clear of the talk on this because I can't really remain civil about it. I was feeling the same, but for your sake, I'll post up. I am sorry this hit so close to home, and glad to hear you are OK. As for the rest, I'm at a loss for words. Quote
