-nick- Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I'm surprised I haven't seen a post on this movie yet with all the hype about it. Well i went to see it last night and it was well worth the 17 dollars i spent to see it. I mean I know this movie was all fake, but i believe stuff like that can happen to people and I know that had a lot to do with how scary it was but I've also seen a lot of movies that could "really" happen and they didn't scare me as bad as this movie. I mean this movie was something that i went home and started to think about before i went to sleep and it's just scary stuff i haven't had a movie do that to me since i was too young to know what was real and what wasn't. I'm sure a lot of you think that it was garbage and not scary but if you like scary movies you NEEEEED to go see this one. It's amazing. just the movie itself and how they made it is really good. seyone Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I was thinking about going to see this and was waiting to hear somebody's take on it. I might go this weekend. I still have to go see the boondock saints 2. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 2, 2009 Super User Posted November 2, 2009 I am from South Louisiana and believe in paranormal activity. My Cajun grandmother told me it was real and today I still believe it. Too many things have happened in the past that support the idea of paranormal activity. The movie has grossed a lot of money and for a $17,000 budget I understand it is very good. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 2, 2009 Super User Posted November 2, 2009 I've not seen it, and probably wont. Movies like this keep me up at night. ;D And for the record, budget was $11,000.00 Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 2, 2009 Super User Posted November 2, 2009 Ok...I saw it two weeks ago and thought it was ok. Same premise and style as Blair Witch but done well and actually watchable. I don't think I would pay $17 for any movie but the $7.50 was tolerable. As with just about any movie nowadays, you pretty much get the idea from the trailers, and with a movie where not much happens, almost every "action" sequence is readily available without watching the movie, the end was a bit of a twist but saw a trailer yesterday that showed that too. The original set showing the crowd more so than the movie worked at first but they've slowly moved more of the movie in and in a movie where all the things that happen can be shown in a 8-10 min clip, it hurts a bit. Ok, back to the movie, the low budget actually helps it's believability. It made it look like home movies or clips that could be watched on youtube and the acting is pretty good. A pretty high level of comedy helped in the progression of an otherwise pretty slow movie. As far as it being scary, it's more suspenseful than anything. The bedroom scenes cause most of this as they all look the same and you don't really know where to look and when something does happen it starts out pretty subtle, aiding in the creep out factor of the whole thing. Over all I think is was an improvement over prior attempts at the same style ( Blair Witch Project ). Didn't really find it scray, maybe a little startling, but like I said little is left to surprise after seeing the trailers. Quote
fishinfewl Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I like this kind of stuff. I'll check it out this weekend. Quote
Super User Micro Posted November 2, 2009 Super User Posted November 2, 2009 I really want to see this movie. I love this sort of stuff. Quote

It's 8.50 where i go and it would've been 6.50 but I still haven't gotten my student id because I never feel like sticking around after class to get it but 17 is because i have to buy my girlfriends. But yeah i didn't really look into it much i just saw the little clip on tv which only showed someone getting thrown into the camera. I did look on youtube and some of the scary parts are on the trailers you can find, but then again of course it's not scary because you haven't seen how it builds up to it. But yeah it's starts off slow but really gets good they did a great job using suspense throughout the movie. Overall i just thought it was a great scary movie that actually scared me which no other horror movie has really been able to do since i was little. Quote

Dalton Tam Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I went to see it with a bunch of friends and my girlfriend. She liked to have squeezed my arm in half; I had a blue and purple mark for 5 or 6 days afterwards. Anyway I loved it, and I'm like you.... it takes alot for me to get scared by a movie but I do believe in the poltergiest/ghost stuff. When I went to bed or should I say when I finally fell asleep about 1 in the morning i was awakened about 2 or 2:15 by some terrible noises going on in my house. I almost wigged out when I heard them. I ran in the living room to find my garbage can knocked over and my step dad on the porch shooting coons out of the tree. You see the coons had been getting into our garbage so we set motion detectors outside to let us know when they were there. My dog had ran inside, scared of the gunshots and knocked over the garbage can. It was crazy! All in all I thought it was a good movie and a must see, if you like scary movies. Quote
b.Lee Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 i got to see it for free, and it was well worth it Quote
