IDbasser Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I got my boat put away for the winter, My favorite place to fish closed to boating on Wed. and the River will be dropping to where it will be too dangerous for the boat very soon. I hate it, but on the brighter side, when I get off work next week I will be going on a 8 day hunting trip with my brother-in-laws. Open season for elk, deer, bear, and WOLF!!!! I still have to go buy my wolf tag. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 2, 2009 Super User Posted October 2, 2009 Well, in other parts of the country fall is mild and beautiful. It's my favorite season! Football and the Prime Time fishing for smallmouth in this region. Good luck hunting! 8-) Quote
Super User Tin Posted October 2, 2009 Super User Posted October 2, 2009 How can you hate this time of year if you can hunt bear and wolves? :-? ;D Quote
Super User flechero Posted October 2, 2009 Super User Posted October 2, 2009 Quote I will be going on a 8 day hunting trip no sympathy from me! You could just as easily gone on a 8 day fishing trip, no? Quote
christopherjake Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Good bye bass season. Hello striper season! Tight lines. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Bass fishing is 365 days/year down here. Can't say much about the hunting, I have to do a good bit of driving to get in an area with healthy whitetails. The amount of time I hunt has dropped a lot over the past couple of years. Quote

bass or bass ? Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Here in Phoenix , it"s just finally getting comfortable to fish. I do go out in summer, but many times, during the day, my partner and I agree that we're just too freakin hot to fish. Overnight is the way to go in summer here. High temp today was 89. Quote
IDbasser Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 Loosing out on places to put the boat on the water. The boat won't be able to hit water until April unless I head south with it again like I did this year. I am looking forward to hunting, first year to allow wolf hunting here. Looking forward to the hunting, we already have snow in the hills here. Quote
done Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 yeah that would depress me. One of the things I like abot NC, we don't have a off-season for fishing. We have certain fish that cycle on and off different times of the year but never a time when we cannot get into water. Quote
IDbasser Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 I guess the ice fishing will be here soon enough, we got 4-5 inches of snow today! can you believe that, way to soon for that. Quote
Branuss04 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 ... and so the b!tchin@ and moaning begins . It seems earlier than last year. Boy are we southern fisherman in for it this year lol. Quote

I am going to have to move south. :-? Quote
done Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Well I can actually relate. I remember every year not getting my dads boat in the water till may and taking it out in Oct or Nov. Seemed like we just got it ready to go in. Was a royal PITA and seemed like a waste to do all that work for a few months of time on the water. Down here, it is awesome. My dad came down one time and was bugging me about winterizing my boat, I was telling him, there ain't no point in doing it here cause it goes out every month. Heck the way my work schedule worked out, I was out more in December than I was in August. The funny thing was, all that time living on the Niagara and near lake Ontario and Erie and I never went ice fishing once. My ADHD nature really leans me more towards Trout stream fishing and fishing on a boat since i can move around and change scenes throughout the day. Quote
IDbasser Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 I grew up in Arkansas, and I still have alot of there, and knowing that they are fishing longer and starting earlier just makes the fishing fever worse. I tell my wife, whose family is close by, that we are going to have to move so I can fish more, she doesn't like the idea Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 6, 2009 Super User Posted October 6, 2009 For me starting about now is the best time of year for fishing, more and larger fish, plus lots of action. The weather should be cooling, less humidity, change of wind direction and increased wind velocity. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted October 6, 2009 Super User Posted October 6, 2009 You have my sympathy. I'm taking my boat out this weekend. Time to winterize and shrinkwrap. I HATE this time of year. Falcon Quote
