Little Luey Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I am not able to watch it but I like that show. I am guessing the show was filmed before Rampage retired? Quote
Tim1980 Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I agree he is a tool, but fighters have to be a little different to train to get punched in the face. Quote
-nick- Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 And also, how many times has a fighter stayed on the show after he lost? I know fighters have came back which I'm sure Kimbo will....Kimbo on the show=more viewers=higher ratings=more money for UFC. No fighters leave the house now after a loss. It's been that way for a couple seasons now. They stick around and keep on training in case someone else gets injured/sick and cant make a fight....in this case, it will be Kimbo that fights for someone. What Roy did to Kimbo is not much different than what Lesnar did to Mir in their second fight. Lesnar used his weight advantage to hold Mir down and land some punches. Roy did the same except his punches weren't as powerful as Lesnar's. Only difference was, Mir has the ability to get up but couldn't because of Lesnar's strength and weight advantage, so they called it. (plus he was getting pounded). Kimbo doesnt have the ability to get up and it didnt really matter if Roy was hitting him hard or not....he couldn't do anything about it either way and there is a rule about being able to defend yourself. And if you think about it....getting put in a crucifix position for minutes at a time like Kimbo was, you aint doing much defending of yourself. I think Kimbo should cut to 205 after the show and fight with guys closer to his weight range. If he stays a heavyweight he'll be giving up 30-40+ pounds almost every fight. Maybe after he fights at 205 for a while and gains some skills he could move back to HW and have a better chance of doing something. Yeah he really should, especially if he doesn't win the show or w/e. I mean even then he'd have a hard time because at this point anyone that knows the ground game will take him down eventually and win. If he could get his ground game as good as his striking, which still isn't perfect, he might have a chance against most of the ufc HW. LW would def. be a smarter option for him if he even wants to starting thinking of being the champion Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 2, 2009 Super User Posted October 2, 2009 I do have a different opinion about Kimbo now since he's been on TUF. It seems like he's actually a decent guy. He admits that he's got weaknesses and it appears that he's training like he wants to improve. He was kind of thrown into the fire in Elite XC, pretty much going straight from the street and into the cage. Now his career has slowed down a little bit to where he can actually learn MMA. Quote

Yeah when i saw him in those youtube street fights i didn't like him at all...but now that i've seen his attitude towards the ufc and being a fighter i hope the best for him. Quote
Simp Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Ditto on the love taps. I wish he would have just stood them up. Roy had to throw love taps because if had tried to hit him hard he would have broke his hand on the top of Kimbo's skull. I was actually impressed by Kimbo compared to the fighters in the first fight. I personally would have taped out of I had to smell mister man pigs under arms. Quote
lightsout Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I think slowly people are realizing there are few "big" guys out there that can hang round after round. I trained for a while a couple years ago before my son was born and was amazed at what a balls to wall fight can take out of you. It's interesting seeing guys from the elite level of other sports that cant hang. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted October 3, 2009 Super User Posted October 3, 2009 Anyone else watch this show or keep up with the ufc? I'm probably rambling to myself but Roy is such a ****** bag thinking he's the man for winning against kimbo. That ticks me off he's not good, otherwise he'd be in the ufc already and he only won because of the huge 30lb size difference. If you don't watch this show or keep up with the ufc, you need to. It's more entertaining than any sport in my opinion. The show comes on wednesday nights at 10 on spike. Size dont matter i seen a 180 lb guy knock out a 450lb guy in 30 seconds with one hit Quote

ejtaylor822 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Agree with some other posts on here. Until this season I did not care for Kimbo. But after seeing him as a "person", he seems to be a very decent person. I too hate it that Roy one - what a dbag. I didn't like Roy from one of the earlier shows when Rashad & his coaches were trying to reason with him and he wouldn't listen. Roy kept talking about "when two masters come together they combine...". What? Two masters. He's an arrogant fella that has lost touch with reality and his skills. His day of reckoning is coming. BUCKEYEone Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I agree with most previous posts on here. Anytime you get a big group of heavyweights together, only a few will be able to fight rounds. I was in the Army with one of the guys on the show, Darrell Schoonover. He doesn't look like much, but I've trained with him and that guy can take a pounding and keep going. I'm looking forward to seeing what Schoonover (aka "Titties" as Rampage called him) brings to the show! Quote

Yeah he was acting like he didn't need the show b/c "hes gone through this so many times b4"....what a joke he needs all the training he can get, especially from the people on this show Quote
