fish-fighting-illini Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I would never have thought of this one but I shouldn't be surprised by it. While buying wax worms for our outing at Walmart my co-worker told me the cashier said "did you check them?". He replied "no why should I need to?". She replied that people have been bringing in Ziploc baggies and emptying the worms into them and stealing them. Man I would have never thought of this one. In this economy anything cold happen. If they are down and out it's one thing but if just being a loser it's just plain stupid. Geeez stuping to a new low every day. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Yeah,I brought one pack of worms once from walmart.I made the mistake of not checking them and there was only 2 in there out of 24. I was Ticked off! I check them all the time now! Quote

SimonSays Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Yea, same happened to me at Dicks once before, I check them now also. I've seen some of the craziest things lately... A few weeks ago i saw people topping of their liquid detergent bottle with another one in the middle of the isle in a Target. Taking an entire box of bandaids out of one box and shoving them in another. and even at my local marine aquarium store...a guy filling his water tanks up with saltwater then claiming it was fresh RO/DI water (1.00/gal vs 0.50/gal)....he gave me the nastiest look when I corrected him at the register. Siebert Outdoors Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Stealing worms, now that's desperate... : People these days... that is easier then using a shovel to dig up earthworms. : Pretty freaking sad if you ask me. Quote

So how do they explain the bottle that they brought in with them? In some cases we might re-think judging a book by its cover in these economic times. I might be inclined to offer to buy the new one for them if really in that big of a need. Not that I have it to spare but everyone has their diginity limit I would think. FFi - AKA Matt Crum Quote

FFi - AKA Matt Crum They probably took one off the shelf, opened the lid and filled it to the rim with another one from the shelf. Bottles aren't filled to the very top so they probably got an extra cups worth in there. No matter how you look at it, it's still theft. I wouldn't offer him/her squat. They would have stole the whole bottle if they knew they could get away with it. Quote
farmpond1 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 It's also a good idea to check them to ensure they are still alive and healthy. I've found entire refridgerators (at Walmart) full of containers of green, fuzzy waxworms. Apparently, the employee's hadn't checked them for (probably) weeks. Quote
-HAWK- Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Now imagine the thief that gets busted stealing wax worms. He is sitting in prison and his cellmate asks him what he's in for. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted September 30, 2009 Super User Posted September 30, 2009 Not that I have it to spare but everyone has their diginity limit I would think. Not really. Years ago I lived in an apartment complex where people would steal your clothes out of the laundry room if you weren't there to keep an eye on them. The worst part is that it wasn't low income housing or anything like that, they were actually higher end apartments :-? Quote
