Super User Root beer Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Alabama deserves to be ranked ahead of Texas. At least we have beaten a top 10 team, and that top 10 team is still in the top 10. : Who has Texas beaten? Texas Tech isn't that good this year so you cannot use that as an argument. Arkansas is more worthy opponent than Texas Tech. Polls are worthless and overrated. I'm jumping that bandwagon. : P.S. It was gut wrenching to see Dont'a Hightower get hurt. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 It don't matter, in the end, the SEC will work its self out. Don't get mad at Texas for soft schedule. An SEC opponent cancelled out on us this year after we laid 50+ on the conference who plays defense last year. Bama will have played their share of cream puffs too! Chattanooga, North Texas, Florida International. 8-) Quote

Chattanooga, North Texas, Florida International. 8-) There, I fixed it to make it more accurate and accordingly less impressive. ;D At least they aren't Boise State...those jokers deliberately schedule easy games throughout the year to go undefeated and then complain when they don't get voted into the "Big boys club." I can't believe they are in the top 5... Quote

Chattanooga, North Texas, Florida International. 8-) I'm not talking about schedule, I'm talking about RIGHT NOW. Alabama is only team in top 3 that has a proven victory....We beat VT on neutral turf, and kept Tyrod Taylor from doing any damage..We just gave up one or two big plays. And VT just destroyed Miami, and yet we beat them..We should be ahead because we already have a proven victory unlike Florida and Texas. Polls are worthless. : I don't even care any more about the poll. Dont'a Hightower is out possible for entire season, so it time to focus on situation at hand. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 28, 2009 Author Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Oh yeah, Arkansas doesn't have a defense. They just got group of guys and a coordinator that calls themselves a defense. Look at the tackling job they tried to do on Trent Richardson. Skip over to 24 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTVi1coMHO8 Edited: Look at :51 second. Julio Jones just shrugged him off. So my point is, Arkansas defense could go back to fundamental and practice tackling. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 I like LSU but I think they are ranked way too high (hopefully I'm wrong). But after watching this weeks game I don't see them beating any of the ranked SEC school they have to play. Hey Robby, where did Penn State fall to? ;D Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Surely ya'll are joking about these teams in the polls. I don't see how ya'll can blame the Houston and BSU and TCU's. They beat quality BCS opponents. Those guys win and these guys just lose. OU USC Ohio St. Notre Dame Cal Penn St. Ole Miss Georgia Okie State VT Miami Eventually, you gotta put someone therecause all these teams are losing and making it easy for them to move up the polls. adclem Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Lets just wait and see what the BCS says when it comes out. On ESPN this morning the top 5 predicted teams are. 1 Florida 2 Alabama 3 Texas 4 LSU 5 Boise State Will they stay this way? Probably not. Every team except for maybe Florida will have at least 1 loss. Also it looks like Florida and Alabama will have too play each other in the SEC Championship. One team will go to the BCS Championship one team will be on the outside looking in. Its also very possible that either Florida or Alabama would only suffer 1 loss and that would be in the SEC Championship. Later, Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Florida, Texas, & Alabama has light schedules with maybe 1 or 2 serious threats Boise State could easily go undefeated but then again they played only one real threat in Oregon I see LSU going 10-2 & they will beat Georgia this weekend Houston is better than y'all think Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 I definitely think LSU is over-rated this year. But, as we know, being in the SEC carries a lot of weight with the guys who make the polls. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 LSU absolutely has me scratching my head but I can assure you the offense is not clicking on all cylinders. Kind of reminds me of '07 which was like dude can y'all put this team away already Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Reality, Texas always has one hickup, most teams do, its not easy going undefeated in a season. You don't see many pro teams hit 12-0 mark either, so Thats reality!!!! The only way Texas plays is to go undefeated. One loss and we are out, even with a bunch of two lossers, we are out. I don't see an undefeated non bcs team playing for the title, even if the only ones undefeated are non bcs teams. Won't happen. Would have loved to see BYU go undefeated, they would of had the best case for non BCS team thus far, would have been interesting to see how the season played out with all the big dogs taking hits. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. lol Go get'em Catt, no respect for LSU! Alabama's win over VT looks very impressive. Edge to Bama as the team to beat thus far. VT should thank God for the rain on Saturday. Play that game on fast turf and that could have been the other way I believe. I'm worried, Tim Tebow will now make another historical speech. And the rest is history. Tebow wins it ALL! Some very good football thus far this season. Hookem Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 28, 2009 Author Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Florida going to lose in next 3 weeks. Steve Spurrier just might beat them whenever they play. Write it down, every SEC school might lose one or two games. ;D It going to be madness!! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 Catt, Houston has very good team, but Leach gift wrapped that game for the Cougars. Fourth and goal, late in the game on the one yard line. You take the 3pts and make the other team go the length of the field and put the ball in the endzone to win. Leach blew it. In the end, Houston earned the 3 points to win it. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 UT tried to get Notre Dame &/or Wisconsin for '09 but it didn't work out for one reason or another. I'll admit that they have been far from impressive this season, but they are definitely a front runner for the NC. MattFly: Ur correct about Leach. Multiple strategical mistakes at the end cost TT the game. Looks like another mediocre season on the South Plains. But that's no surprise. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 I definitely think LSU is over-rated this year. But, as we know, being in the SEC carries a lot of weight with the guys who make the polls. Yes but I still think they are the only teams who can give Florida or Bama a loss. I think they would be Florida before Bama though. They are at home under the lights. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 I'm not giving Boise State any credit. Sure, they beat Oregon, but I'm not convinced Oregon is any more than mediocre. They beat a highly ranked Cal team, which other than Jahvid Best, is decent, but not a top 10 team. Therefore, Boise still has no case in my eyes. Quote
drmnbig Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 It's tough for the rankings to be very accurate this early in the season. I still haven't saw where Fla. has been super impressive enough to be no. 1. At this point I think 1st belongs to Bama. with Fla. second. As a VT fan I'm really suprised they jumped as much as they did this week. I'm hoping and believe there is a good chance they will win the rest of their games. If they do you big bad SEC boys better be ready to face the ACC in the National Championship! Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 29, 2009 Super User Posted September 29, 2009 Houston's defense was in Taylor Potts head midway through the 4th quarter, you could see in his eyes he had given up so it would not had mattered what plays Leach called Potts could not have executed it. Tech on the goal line, Potts pass attempt hits an offensive lineman squire in the middle of the back and the camera pans in on his faces which show total defeat. Houston took out Oklahoma St & Texas Tech Cougars remaining schedule is pretty d**n easy UTEP Mississippi State Tulane Southern Methodist Southern Miss Tulsa UCF Memphis Rice Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 29, 2009 Super User Posted September 29, 2009 They shouldn't start ranking teams until the teams play at least five games. Quote

Once they get new players that Sylvester Croom hasn't "coached", the bulldogs will be up there. Dan Mullens going to recruit a strong team over the next few seasons. He's running a great offense and the defense is doing ok. Also, who was the first to send Vandy on their downfall last year? And for those of you downtalking Boise, don't forget about the 2007 Fiesta Bowl with Oklahoma. Quote
