BassDeaton01 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I'm not too sure. I watched the show last night and he has some pretty mean looking opponents on the show. I definitely wouldn't underestimate him. But, I honestly think they will try to save his fight until later on in the season to keep people watching it. Just curious on your opinions. Thanks guys. NewAngler Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 They will for sure keep hios fight until late in the season. Or one early and then one real late. I don't think he'll do that well. Remember his fight against that last minute guy? He got DROPPED. Or one of his first fights with the guy with the ear, struggled. Sorry I don't know names, but hope you know who I'm talking about.he is a street fighter, not a cage fighter. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 17, 2009 Super User Posted September 17, 2009 I'm not too sure either way... Do I think he is the next superstar? Of course not. But I do feel that if Bas Rutten has seen enough potential in him to be his coach, then he has as good a chance as anyone in the house. I know one thing, the person who beats him down will likely be a wrestler. He really looks well below average on his back. Both those guys that fought last night looked like slugs. Props to the dude who got beat b/c that was a nasty cut on his head. Still, neither impressed me with their dominance (or lack thereof). Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted September 17, 2009 Super User Posted September 17, 2009 none of the fighters looked that crisp, hhe has a good chance to do well. coaching might hurt him. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Yeah I definitely think he is more of a street fighter too. But if he could ever improve his wrestling he could definitely be dangerous. I believe it was Seth Petruzelli or something like that who upset him in Elite XC. And also the Boston cop that put a whoopin on him. But I hope to see him win the Ultimate Fighter because I want to see how he does against some of the bigger names in the UFC like Mir, Lesnar, Sylvia you know some of those guys. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Like Speedbead said, he'll get taken down by some bad-*** wrestler and get pounded for a couple rounds. Wrestling + GNP is the best formula for winning TUF. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I hope I am not bursting bubbles but I think I saw a preview and he gets dropped in the first round. Hopefully, I was mistaken with what I saw. Those guys all looked to be a wreck cardio wise. That first fight both fighters were gassed a minute into the fight. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I think if he can develop any type of descent ground game he'll do pretty well Quote
FordNFishinLover Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 The gash on that guys head last night was crazy!! I think kimbo will do fair up top but on ground it seems like he wont know what hes doing. Btw, what is kimbo famous for? This is the first time ive ever even see the guy. Quote
Tim1980 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Kimbo is famous for backyard fighting. No kicks, no taking your opponent to the ground, no kneeing, no elbows just punching. Go to you tube and type his name you will see. The Sean Gannon fight he lost but Kimbo got kneed so there was chaos. He is like Brock Lesnar IMO a lot of hype before they proved anything in the octagon. Brock is starting to prove he is worth some of his hype now. I don't see Kimbo lasting very long, but every season someone can't continue then Kimbo will get a second shot. Quote
Crabcakes Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 My prediction is that Kimbo wins one fight loses another but stands a good chance of getting brought back as a replacement and/or fighting on the finale. The fight last night wasn't even fun to watch. Total mismatch and the winner wasn't really that impressive either. The UFN just beforehand was great. I'm surprised no one mentioned this. Four good fights in a row with alot of back and forth fights. Huertas shoulder was 180 degrees the wrong way and it didn't seem to phase him. I thought he was going to be hurt really badly. Condit and Quarry really came back. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 The UFN just beforehand was great. I agree. Good fights all night long. Huertas shoulder was 180 degrees the wrong way and it didn't seem to phase him. That was nasty....I was waiting for his shoulder to pop at any second but then he rolled out and was right back at Maynard. That fight could've went either way, really. Huerta has always 'had it' and Maynard has gained in leaps and bounds with his striking since he was on TUF. I suspect the takedowns sealed it for Maynard though. Good fight. Quarry really came back. I bet Nate Q's right eye will be swolen for 2 weeks....that was what I call a SHINER! ;D As for Kimbo....who really knows? Not much has been said about him or how he has progressed with his training in between Elite XC and TUF 10. He's in a great camp but has he learned anything? Thats the real question. I doubt whomever he fights will want to stand and swing with him though. One conclusion I made after last night's show is that I wouldn't want to be on Team Rampage. He seems too busy making jokes and playing to the camera to actually 'coach' anybody. His guy last night got smashed and all I heard Rampage say the entire fight was 'GET UP'!! He could've at least yelled something like 'ROLL OUT' or 'SWEEP' or 'ARM BAR' or just something other than 'GET UP'....I'm pretty sure the dude knew that he needed to get up : ....he just didnt know HOW to get up. That's what a coach/cornerman is for....helping his guy out with instructions. Quote

1inStripes Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I have heard he is taken out in his first fight as well. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 ive read rumors and thats it. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 Been said a ton, he's a street fighter. IF he ever gets in with Brock..it's lights out for kimbo. IMHO they are using him for the hype to sell the show, and tickets. He has a couple of weakness's..savy fighters know them and take advantage real quick. Let the flames begin.. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 I agree that the Fight Night before TUF was sweet!! I was really impressed and glad it was free. I hope the rumors about Kimbo aren't true though because I actually like watching the guy fight. And you guys are right that Liddell was a stand up guy and he did exceptionally well in the UFC so maybe Kimbo can do the same. Quote
