It 's a miracle that a bill lasts so long, but no matter how well they are made the Federal Reserve has to print a lot of new bills on a regular basis, also, bill crispiness has a lot to do with how bills are handled nowdays, old soft bills and bill counting machines and ATMs don 't work too well together ( the bills stick to each other ) so when an old bill ( those that look pretty beat up ) reaches a bank it 's removed and the Federal Reserve changes it for a new one.

In many countries low value bills have been replaced from money paper to plastic, it 's cheaper, lasts longer and it 's a lot more difficult to counterfit, also, it works a lot better with bill counting machines and ATMs.

deee deee dee dee deee, viola.  :)

Read about the Federal Reserve. ;) You know how coke delivers coke product to stores? It sort of same concept.  :) It important that each bill replaced are retired from money supply, so that inflation or hyper-inflation do not get out of control. :o

Banks can either have existing money replaced or just borrow mint money from the Feds and pay them back later.(discount rate)  Or banks that have fresh mint probably lend it to other banks. (federal fund rate) Money that are fresh or old exchange hand really fast. :o

You can ask for "older" bills.

Crips bills stick together so I put older bills between them.  :)

When I worked at K-mart, all the news bills be stuck together. To fix this problem, I just simply bend them. Just repeatedly bend the bills. Sort of like doing the waves with dollars if you will. It will make them like more crumble if you will, thus, will not stick together.

I turn them face to face or back to back.  That way if they stick you have a bill with two fronts or two backs.
