Super User roadwarrior Posted September 8, 2009 Super User Posted September 8, 2009 For many of us, this will be the last: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,547820,00.html 8-) Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Is it stupid that this actually makes me kind of sad? All I know is that tomorrow, like other weekdays, I'll go to work, think about fishing all day, get home, drink some Octoberfest, then go to bed only to start it all over again on Thursday. Maybe the Octoberfest will tase especially delicious on 9/9/09? ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 9, 2009 Author Super User Posted September 9, 2009 What really strikes me as odd is the we have had many dates like this over the past 50 years. Now there is a big gap to the next date and another one thousand years after that! Weird. Quote
Koop Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I'm waiting for 11/11/11 the sky will fall! ;D Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 so it's the last date with repeating single digits? so what? how are single digits any more significant than repeating double digits (10/10/10, 11/11/11, etc...) Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 Aren't they manipulating the number 2009? 2009 isn't a single digit number. 9-9-9 isn't 9-9-2009. Does that make any sense or should I stay out of this conversation? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I cant wait till 13/13/13. I might actually go fishing on that day. : Quote
tyrius. Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I cant wait till 13/13/13. I might actually go fishing on that day. : What kind of weird 13 month calendar are you Missourians using? ;D Quote

Slip Gun Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I cant wait till 13/13/13. I might actually go fishing on that day. : Patience is a virtue... it might take a while. Quote
skillet Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I'm beginning to think that (13/13/13) might be the best bet for the day I catch my DD :-/... skillet Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 I cant wait till 13/13/13. I might actually go fishing on that day. : There won't be a 2013 period. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 and that's it for all of us. There's even a movie about it so it must be true. http://www.2012warning.com/ Quote

Apparently double digit numbers don't count so 09/09/09 is the last date with repeating SINGLE digits for a while. Quote

I've also heard its a cyclic calander that starts over. Skillet I agree. Maybe we can fish that day and both catch DD fish. Yes, I am bored. ;D Quote
Other. Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I honestly don't see anything special about 9-9-09. Time after all is just an illusion. We could change our calendars so that next week it will be 9-9-09 again and it would really be 9-9-09 since were not using any galatical space-time continuum calendar or anything. Quote

There is no such thing as a "foot" (the measurement) either, just measurements that simulate what a foot should be. Time is something WE created. It's not naturally occurring and shouldn't have any impact on when things end. *EDIT* RW, please refer to Muddy on rules regarding Wikipedia as a credible reference source. Quote

daviscw Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Did you know September has 9 letters? Did you know Wednesday has 9 letters? Did you know that today is the 252 day of the year and 2+5+2=9? Sh**'s about to blow! Quote

There is no past and no future, only the present. It's hard to think about and explain unless I were to jot this all down on paper because I keep loosing my thoughts. I don't really have to though as scientist have already done that. Of course there is always the theory about infinite probabilities which would give a reality of the past and future but thinking about that makes my head hurt. I understand the point of this is because no one really here cares about 9-9-09 I'm just getting a little bit deeper into the topic. Quote

When it comes down to it, the days still start and end at midnight, and we still have to be at work at 9. Quote
