I'm wondering who else on the board loves cigars?

A few months ago I created my own Cigar Dossier that I would like to share with whomever. I made two versions. One cover features Winston Churchill, one features JFK. Each journal has fun cigar facts and history to read while smoking, a gauge guide, a length guide, a color/wrapper guide, and even various flavor spectrum visuals to assist in the description of your smoke... oh ya and of course pages of rating forms with places to tape or glue your wrappers.

If anyone is interested in one, I can send you the files. The two in the photo were bound at Kinkos for less than 10 bucks.

I'm a huge cigar fan.  My ex-gf's dad gave me a nice humidor to start with and I'm slowly building my collection.  I love to try a new one every time, but so far I know I like the Connecticut shades.

My two favorites so far are the Gran Habano #1 and the classic Romeo y Juliet.

I just bought my first triple flame torch and I just recently was given a cutter signed by Rocky Patel.

VaTech, any suggestions for new one's to try?

I like Partagas Black Labels. Don't be scared by the dark wrapper, it's not very full bodied.

I also like the flavored cigars by Drew Estate, specifically the Acids. My favorites are the Kuba Kubas

I love heavy smokes and by far my fav is Camacho.

Senko....

Try a smoke with a Cameroon wrapper...Ohhhh!! nice!!!

Oliva makes a nice one and it's not that expensive. it's actually a "bundle" cigar (economy). Great value!! ;)

Peace,

I second the Olivas series v or g.  Actually, the NUBs arent bad for a quick smoke.  I have to say my favorites are still the Fuente Hemingways and the Padron Anniversary series.  MMMMM

You guys are making me want to grab a glass of bourbon and light up.

To those who sent me PMs for the files, I will send them as soon as I can but I'm in the middle of setting up a new computer so give me a little time to get some stuff organized. Thanks :)

Does anyone here own a personal humidor? I was tempted to get one and start a collection but I don't know much about it. I've googled around a bit trying to collect easy-to-understand, modern information but it's not that easy! Wish there was a cigar forum nearly as helpful as BR is for fishing.

I thought this humidor looked badass but it seems that the retailer might not exist anymore. Any suggestions of a good starting humidor? What size? What price? Any other buying tips?

hit your local smoke shops for them, get an idea what they go for and what he recommends, you may find them online but building a reputation with the owner can prove to be lucrative in the long run. MY girl bought me one a few years ago, spent some cash on it, I hardly use it anymore.

Nice, I think the gadgets are part of the fun. Just like gear is part of the fun of fishing for me. I use a Xikar dual torch and a Xi Cutter both in gunmetal color - they look gorgeous together and I love lighting up with them!

I have to echo Sfritr's love for Padron. The 1926 serie number 9 is the bees knees, it just really does it for me. Currently I've been blessed with the fortune of a handful of Cuban Cohiba Robustos finding their way to me and I assure you any review I attempt to write would not do them justice!

Also per Dan's suggestion and also reviews from friends, the Kuba Kuba will probably be my next cigar.

Would anyone be down to setup a weekly smoke/cigar suggestion and we can all come back on the forum and post our review? I simply enjoy a cigar more if I can talk about it with other people and share the experience.

for a humidor , you can check out cheaphumidors.com. most or all of them have a great warranty.

or if you want to go the cheap route , like i did , use a cooler. get the beads from heartfeltindustries.com (i used the 65%) and digital hygro and thats about it. he has directions on the site on how to set them up with the distilled water.

ORRR , you can just bite the bullet and get a vinotemp wine cooler.  8-) you think fishing is addicting? wait till you fall down the 'slope' and wind up with 100+ cigars and no where to put them  ;D .

and ill say it again , everyone who hasnt checked out taboo cigars really should. the twists , SFO's and HSG's (my favorites) are REALLY worth checking out. i havnt smoked a more consistant cigar yet. and with a few months time in the humi , they get even better. the value blends are great also.

if you do not like an overly sweet smoke , i would avoid those at all cost. and do NOT store them with other non flavored cigars. or any other cigar for that matter. shoot , put them in a tupperware container just to avoid the headache.

iirc , the blondie is basically the same thing but smaller. i may be wrong , its been a while since ive had one.

CAO flavors are better imo. the moontrance and the honey are worth a try as well.

I was just going to post that. Don't mix them with other cigars. It's probably best to smoke it as soon as you can after purchasing it. They have oils and stuff that flavor them that are very aromatic and can be absorbed by other cigars. I think you are right about the Blondie. I myself prefer the Acids to the CAOs.

Robby!  C'mon man.  PM me your address and I will send you up a quality cigar.  If you don't have a cutter, let me know and I will send you up one too.

I don't know if good cigars will mix well with natural ice light and Milwaukees best.
