NewAngler Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Do they have them, or do they only work for the site? i know that Glenn is the owner, but where do the other come into play? either way, being a mod has got to have a lot of perks! Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I beleive they have other jobs but really don't need them. The pure joy of dealing with the Mooks on this site is all they need to sustain life. Actually I've heard a rumor that Glenn treats them so well that they have had to engage Roadwarrior as a personal investment advisor and are hoping the new pay czar doesn't start investigating them Quote
Super User CWB Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 I'm sure they all have jobs but like myself, can check on things from time to time at work or maybe they work from home, or at different times of the day. One of the perks is they get to delete posts from smarta**es like myself. ;D I had the pleasure of meeting them at the roadtrip this year and they are all great guys. Quote

From what I take it so far, the mods just seem to be people that love fishing, are on the site often, and take on the responsiblity of keeping everything in line. I was admin of a guitar forum for a long time, and my mods were those that I trusted to keep things in order. Some forums the mods are like police. Not like that here. I've asked mods questions, and they have always been very helpful, and never have an attitude that they're better than you because they're a mod. In other words, their members just like you and me, with extra responsiblity. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 LBH = UPS FiveBass = welder (I think) Roadwarrior = Money man Glenn has a job too. Keri's job is to babysit Glenn Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 They'll try to tell you otherwise but don't believe them they are all filthy rich from this site and none of them has a day job! One even drives a Lamborghini or something! Ok technically it was Robert's but... J/K Glenn seems to pick some good ones they all seem like good people. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 While they all have real jobs, they dream of being able to leave those and spend all day on the forums answering questions like: "i just baut a zebco 2 peece combo did i do good and can I put brade on it" Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 29, 2009 Super User Posted August 29, 2009 I'm a mod on a motorcycle site, have been for about 5yrs..never got paid, nor did I get any real perks..9 to 5..? lol...I and the other mods had to work for a living..so ..it was when we got online, although some of us worked different shifts, so someone was there most of the time. The bad part was having to ban someone for being a a$$hat. Some sites mods can't do that, only the Admin. can. Also what was anoying to me was, having to move threads that were consantly being posted in the wrong forums.. The neat thing is, the Admin, and Mods have a Private forum that nobody else can see, so we could talk crap about someone without them knowing..lol Quote

The neat thing is, the Admin, and Mods have a Private forum that nobody else can see, so we could talk crap about someone without them knowing..lol That's one of the reasons I gave up my "job" as a mod on a custom motorcycle forum. The mods and admin would talk trash about board members in their little "Club House" and then kiss the same member's @$$ out in the public areas. I hate two-faced people. > Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 29, 2009 Super User Posted August 29, 2009 Stasher, just to be clear..what we normally talked about was what, and the why's if so and so should be banned, or put on vacation, if someone stepped over the line in re: to spam ect...Whatever I had to sat about someone, I say it to their face..well, type to their face..lol Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I have moderated for a few political forums, and it was a pain in the @$$! Drama, whining, outlandish requests every five minutes... It was a burden. Quote
