fish-fighting-illini Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 True story... Our oldest daughter was vacationing in Las Vegas a week or so ago. She was poolside @ Mandolay Bay ( sp?). She ordered a sandwich for lunch. When it arrived it was huge, bigger than about any sandwich she'd ever seen. A family close by also ordered sandwiches. When their's arrived their little boy said "what's up with the huge portions?" His mother in an obvious European accent says... " it's because we are in America" Unfortunately it is a little too accurate re America. Quote
aceman387 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 i was just talking to a woman who is a personal trainer the other day and she was talking about her trip to Italy , i never travel so i asked her what the biggest difference between our country and Italy the first thing she blurted out was you don't see any fat people over there and here everybody is fat. Super User Dan: Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 I read that England isn't far behind the US as far as obesity percentages...that makes me feel a little better. Quote
dave Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 While I could certainly benefit from smaller portions, I do prefer mentally to get my money's worth. Probably wouldn't mind smaller portions for a smaller cost. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 I read that England isn't far behind the US as far as obesity percentages...that makes me feel a little better. Was in London for New Years a few years ago and the percentage of larger people is noticably smaller than that of larger amercan cities. Of course, you'll always find a fat sweaty guy on the tube that will sit right next to you. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted August 26, 2009 Super User Posted August 26, 2009 No wonder. Look how big our supermarkets have gotten. Take the cookie aisle for example. Do we need 39 varieties to choose from ? :-? Quote
