Daniel A. Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I know, I know. I'm at least two weeks late. After hearing "A Looking In View," I'm sold. If their new album is anything like this single, I have to get it the day it comes out. Dark, brooding melody...check. Signature harmonizing...check. Any other fans? I'm glad to see them moving forward. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 I have heard nothing about it.Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye(ear) out for it. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 haven't heard it yet, but i would like to. i'm just not sure how Alice in Chains could ever be the same without Layne Staley... Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 its a pretty good song! the new vocalist ain't so bad Quote
nateobot Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 He doesn't have nearly as powerful a voice as Layne did, but he isn't bad. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 I have all of the Alice in Chains catalog and I would love to see them touch the artistry of "Facelift" and "Dirt" again. I tend to listen to highly technical musicians and, while Jerry Cantrell and company aren't at that level, they have always been a band that I love just because the music appeals to me. I think they touch that psychedelic side of myself that I never left behind. This song isn't bad, but at seven minutes, I think Jerry could have done more with the guitar than just repeat the same riffs throughout the song. It would have made the seven minutes more interesting. The signature harmonies are still there because half of the dynamic duo of Staley and Cantrell is still singing. IMO, Alice In Chains is the best band from the grunge era, although Soundgarden rattled my chains as well. Has anyone heard the whole album? Edit: Oh, I see the album isn't being released until September 29th. Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I was quite skeptical of the new chains music. But the singer actually is not that bad. He is not Lane by any means, but not terrible. I have only heard the one song on the radio and I actually liked it. I usually do not listen to Radio music. I like mine a little heavier. But if I hear another one and I like it I will purchase. If they could make another song like "would". That song reminds me of a lot of good times as a teenager. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Alice In Chains will never be the same without Layne but the new stuff is pretty good. I'm probably going to pick the album up. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 20, 2009 Super User Posted August 20, 2009 Hmmm....I've not heard the new song. As soon as I get off work I'll have to check it out. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 20, 2009 Super User Posted August 20, 2009 they just released another single, Check My Brain. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Yeah Check My Brain is a great song! Heard it the other day and really like it! Quote
BadKarma42 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 The new sounds like the old. Not that it is a bad thing. Quote
vanquish Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 New song sounds pretty good. I will probably buy it. I haven't bought any new music in a loooong time. I like the entire Alice in Chains catalog but Jar of Flies has to be my favorite. Can't ever get enough of Rage Against the Machine and old Chili Peppers. Quote
