Super User Catt Posted August 11, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 11, 2009 Exactly my point these polls reflect where your team is today but we still have 12 games to go. LSU is listed as #9 which is great but I want #1 in week 12 I'M READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL Quote
tnbassfisher Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 As long as there is another SEC team as the National Champion, I will be somewhat happy. Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 I'll settle for #1 in week 15, the last poll the BCS uses before the BCS pukes out its bs. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 I would rather see colleges not get ranked until after the 5th week of games. No rankings would mean teams would actually be getting ranked based on the body of work done thus far. Instead of opinions based on opinions. Teams that play better than average teams should get ranked ahead of those that play weak non conf. foes. I guess to put it simply, earn that ranking. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 Geez...It just seems entertaining to me! Are you ready to rumble? Polls are released and the green flag drops. It's all just part of the drama and allure of college sports! BTW: http://www.mmbolding.com/bowls/Music_Missouri_Fight_Song.htm ;D ;D Quote

Ellesar Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 The Big Ten was supposed to be weak and they got 2 in the top ten. I hope Penn State don't choke this year. They have 2 because they dont play anyone and are likely to end up undefeated or with just one loss, which will get them ranked that high. The polls do consider the schedule strength, its not necessarily how good you are, but how good you play given the competition you face. Quote
Ellesar Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Why is VT in there? Just watch and you'll see why. Starting with Alabama. Clemson said the same thing last year.... Quote

VaTech is no Clemson either. Last year, Clemson was ranked in the preseason top 10, why? it sure wasn't cause they ended the season ranked in the top 10 the year before. Bama didn't deserve to vault up the pole 13 spots either, but they did. Go VaTech!!!! 8-) Quote

After all, the didn't lose until the SEC championship game. Quote

vatech Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Why is VT in there? Not just b/c they won the ACC. People expect this team to rival the team when Vick took them to the National Championship game, and they have a kid by the name of Ryan Williams who looks godly in spring practice, and they have a kid by the name of David Wilson coming in who was personally called at home by Urban Meyer to come and fill Percy Harvin's spot, and a much improved O Line, and a recruit out of Florida who is supposed to be an absolute STAR DB and returner, and a QB of Tyrod Taylor back, and NO MORE Sean Glennon even in site on the field. GO HOKIES! Quote

GO HOKIES! Tyrod's mediocrity was proven by the fact that Glennon was still part of the QB discussion for VT last year. Quote
Bull Hurley Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I think Tyrod was hindered by the situation and not having a clear your the one go get the job done mentality. I see him having a good year this year and living up to the hype more with more experience and a more experienced team around him. I looked at last year as a throw away rebuilding year for Tech till the won a few games and realized they may have a shot at the conference and a BCS game if they pulled Tyrod's redshirt and guess what that's exactly what they got. 1inStripes Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Tyrod is an athlete and if his passing has improved, the skies the limit for VT in the ACC. Ga Tech is the team I will love to watch out of the ACC though. I don't think they will ever win a national title with Paul Johnson there, but they will always be at the top of the conference. He is one of the best coaches in the country. I think another year wiser in their system and they will quite possibly take the ACC. Quote
