Super User Micro Posted August 15, 2009 Super User Posted August 15, 2009 I've been wanting a dedicated home defense shotgoun for some time that is highly mod'able. Even though the Remington 870 is the KING, I decided I wanted something different. I'm a huge Benelli fan. So I went with the Benelli Super Nova Tactical. The ghost ring sights are the best I've seen on any gun anywhere near its price. Quote
Koop Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Neat, I didn't realize the nova came in pump, I thought they only made them in semi auto for some reason. Quote

Fishing Doug Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 question for you on the Benelli-how many shells does it hold? great looking gun. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 16, 2009 Super User Posted August 16, 2009 Nice looking gun. I have the Benelli Super 90 semi auto and it is awesome sweet. Quote

Super User Jeff H Posted August 16, 2009 Super User Posted August 16, 2009 Nice! This type of gun is probably on a lot of peoples minds. I'm shopping for one myself but in no hurry. Have heard the Stoeger P-350 is a good bargain though. Gun sales are up 22% nationwide since our new Prez was elected. 9mm ammo is in extremely short supply right now. Powder is getting real hard to get too. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 16, 2009 Super User Posted August 16, 2009 My best friend in New Orleans likes a lower gauge shotgun as he says it will not leave too many pellet holes in the wall when you shot someone. And living in New Orleans, he needs to have it locked and loaded. His wife made him get an ax so they can cut a hole in the roof to be saved when the next hurricane hits the Crescent City. Just thought Micro would like to know this. Quote
Koop Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I have a remington 11-87 super mag, sportsman waterfowl version... not quite home defense gun but would do the trick in a pinch . I had originally looked at the Benelli's as that is what we used in the USMC and I liked them quite a bit, but I wanted something I could duck hunt with and am not to fond of semi auto which I thought was what the majority of Benelli's were. I prefer a pump action for duck hunting as it seems more sporty to me. Nice shotgun though, do you plan on using it for anything besides home defense? Quote

Federal makes a .410 load that has 4 #000 buck pellets in a vertical stack in a 2.5" hull. Kinda cool and probably expensive round (.410 shells are crazy expensive anyway) but would likely make a mess of somebody at short range. They list it as a handgun load(designed especially for the Taurus Judge) but, I wonder how it would fare in shotgun?? Quote
