Super User Dan: Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 I'm posting from my brother's apartment in beautiful Danville, CA right now. My whole family is out here for his wedding on Saturday. We just got back from the post-rehearsal dinner. Yesterday we checked out the whole tourist scene in San Francisco. I don't think I've ever felt like I was standing next to so many crazy people in my life...definitely an interesting scene out there. I was hoping to do some fishing while I was out here but I didn't want to ship any of my rods and risk them getting broken and I don't think I'm going to have enough spare time. I got some awesome info from Fourbizz about a few lakes nearby and it is killing me not to be able to go after them. I guess I'll have to get my fishing fix after I come back on Sunday. Oh, btw, the weather is AMAZING out here. It has been a fantastic break from the humidity that we'd been experiencing in Virginia recently. It has been in the 70s and 80s and DRY for our whole visit. The evenings here are absolutely fantastic! Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 Ah yes, California. The land of the fruits and nuts. Have a fun time. Quote

Dan's too busy looking for man-love... ;D I saw some dudes that were in man-love the other day in SF. And a homeless trumpet player with a pet rabbit for that matter... I don't think I'm going to be able to kick fourbizz. I'm still not old enough to drive the rental cars and I'm trying to get someone to take me on a trip to Hi's Tacklebox today. Then Saturday is the wedding and Sunday I fly home. Quote

Super User Muddy Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 MY lord, that is a lot of high end gear in one shop! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 14, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 14, 2009 MY lord, that is a lot of high end gear in one shop! Right!?!? And no one is willing to take me there! Tomorrow is the wedding and we are leaving on Sunday so I don't think I'm going to be able to check it out. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 14, 2009 Super User Posted August 14, 2009 Well with you in Cali at least the goats in VA get a break:SEE BURLEY"S THREAD ;D Quote
Branuss04 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Take a taxi to Hi's. I haven't been there since their relocation... But it was a pretty cool place then, so I would assume it is just as good. Fisherman's Warf area is notorius for the freak shows (Or sidewalk shows... whatever you want to call it.) It's very entertaining if your a people watcher. But yes the weather has been great lately. You hit us right during a small cool down. So now you can tell your goat friends that cali isn't everything that it's hyped up to be : Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 15, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 15, 2009 I wish I could take a taxi there but now I'm out of time and it would have cut into my tackle money. You're definitely right about Fisherman's Wharf. I thought DC and New Orleans could be weird but San Fran takes the cake. One of the "performers" just sat there and held up a couple of branches and jumped out at people. Apparently he said he makes like $50k a year.... Now I have the wedding tomorrow and cleanup afterwards. Being a groomsman is a lot of work. I hate to say it but I could get used to living out here....just need to find some goats. 8-) Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 15, 2009 Super User Posted August 15, 2009 I love California, it's a great place. If I didn't have grandchildren 10 minutes from me in Florida, I'd be out there, wife rulez. Quote

It's pretty funny watching him. He will setup on the less busy side, and you can watch the sidewalk on the other side fill up with people and stare at his "work". He definately gets some people going. I watched him do it to this old man once. The old man kicked him in the shin... funny stuff ;D At least those homeless people "work" instead of beg :-/ Quote
