bigtimfish Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I was just wondering. I know a lot of people including myself listen to a lot of different music. But if you HAD to listen to one type of music for the rest of your life, what would it be. I have to go with classic rock. Like Jethro Tull and Cream. Quote

But my average metal intake is waaaaaaay heavier than Tool. It's actually a lot heavier than Pantera. What is your metal? Quote

Super User Muddy Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Zydeco: Is from the Creole Speaking people of the bayous of Louisiana and Texas. It is Accordion( Organ) driven music. Typical Band Wash Board played on chest using spoons to scratch out rhythms Elec Guitar Elec Bass Accordion Drums It is high energy music, great for dancing. Has it's roots in Haitian/Black Churches and was secularized. The most famous band to play this world wide and one of the founding fathers was CJ Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band. CJ Has left us , died from diabetes, his son took over the band BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO; Is smoking, I had the pleasure of seeing him play Hammond Organ in a Louisiana Church once also great; Bozo Chavez Quote
bass or bass ? Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I've been a pro/semi pro musician all my life. I've played classic rock, blues, zydeco, swing, jazz, country, and bluegrass. I like all the above. I have sirius satellite radio on my boat and listen to everything mentioned, however when fishing I prefer the Spa 73 channel, which is new age. Very peaceful and appropriate for fishing. Happy fishing. Quote

bigtimfish Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 Behemoth,Lamb of God,Emporer,Dark Throne,Hard Shell Case(local friends band),Between The Buried and Me,Pig Destroyer. I did not list these prior because most people (at least around here)have never heard of any of them. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Behemoth,Lamb of God,Emporer,Dark Throne,Hard Shell Case(local friends band),Between The Buried and Me,Pig Destroyer. I did not list these prior because most people (at least around here)have never heard of any of them. i have only heard of behemoth, between the buried and me, and i may have heard of pig destroyer. i find that most of these metal bands with terrible names (see above lol) have equally terrible music. no variety within their songs. each song sounds like the same riff constantly repated. i don't like that. too one dimensional for me. also their vocalists aren't worth poop. not saying this is the case for the bands you listed because i haven't heard any of their music, i'm just saying i find this is the case with a lot of metal bands that you don' t hear much about. Quitlimpin Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I went with alternative. I listen to everything under the sun except rap/hip-hop If I could only listen to one genre for the rest of my life it would definitely be grunge. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana=the best period of music in my lifetime. Quote

Super User Sam Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 You guys need to visit Cajun country in Louisiana and see what a good time really is. Visit Louisiana.....Come as You Are, Leave Different. Really, visit Cajun country before you croak. Wonderful people, fantastic food, and a totally different culture than anywhere in the world. Quote

Aaron Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I listen to mostly country followed by classic rock and heavy metal then everything else. For you country fans I highly recommend Jamey Johnsons' "That Lonesome Song" this is some of the best country I have heard in a long time. Quote
