There have been a lot of fatal accidents around my area (I'm talking about a dozen in the past week), I know of several friends who have been rear-ended, and TODAY on TWO different occasions I had a vehicle stop to let me out of a parking lot and another vehicle went around them in the break-down lane to pass them and almost hit me. Both times I was allegedly the a-hole according to the other drivers who used the break-down lane and almost hit me. And it took everything I had to not get out and beat them senseless. (both were also little guido-wangsta #@$#%#$@@) Am I missing something? Is the world coming to an end? Are they giving something away somewhere?

I don't know about the world coming to an end, I also do not appreciate the use of Guido wangsta, that is an Italian Ethnic Slur

I feel you on the accidents, this is summer, beer and driving has a lot to do with it.

Greetings from the land of bad driving....New Jersey. Although by the tone of this post and other recent driving rants, we may be losing our Title.

Any cops out there wanna give a little input ? Uncle Leo, where are you?

Far too many people fail to treat the task of driving with the respect it deserves.  They're too busy talking on the phone, texting, reading the paper, shaving, applying makeup, etc.

I tell ya it is heartbreaking. I never saw it like this up north but down south ( a lot more narrow roads with soft or no shoulders), this time of year we see a lot of horrendous single car wrecks around here. Almost always they are 17-18 yr olds, SOBER, driving mach 3 down some road while talking and/or texting, and just losing control.

I can tell ya when I was that age I was a maniac on the roads. However the roads in my areas (Buffalo, NY) we all curbed, wider, and straighter, in short there was room for mistakes. IN this area, I live now (CLT, NC) the roads are not forgiving and I am sick to death of seeing pics of 17/18 yr olds getting killed in these wrecks. Just horrible.

If you are in this age range, really no disrespect guys/gals but you need to be careful. Like I said, I was a lunatic then (would never believe back them if you told me though), you need to keep the speed down and pay attention as best you can. Your pics need to be in graduation announcements not obituaries.

If they would stop putting air bags in cars, and mount machete's on the steering wheels, people would learn to drive better.

thats a great solution! think about it, people would be too scared to drive, emmisons would go down, those that were brave enough would drive safer, and the world would be a better place lol ::) ;D

Sums it up... ;D

Been quite a few things happening around here as well.I've been hearing ambulance and fire trucks all day.

A few weeks ago we had a car full of teenagers run around the train track barricades and the train hit them, killing all 5 kids.Upon further investigation they found out they were trying to get one of the teenage girl home on time so she wouldn't get grounded.

This happened about 2-3 blocks from our house,I've never seen so many TV station helicopters in the air as i did that day.

My dad needs a heart transplant. I'm waiting for MORE fatalities. Luckily R.I. has a no helmet law for motorcycles.

Knock on wood......We have been pretty quiet here.

It's a weird phenomenon when things all seem to happen in a short period. Wish there was a way to predict it...Just seems sometimes that people get kinda nuts for no apparent reason.

From one Italian to another I appologize.

We've had alot of motorcycle wrecks here in IN. one two weeks ago where the fella raced thru a red light and a straight truck plowed him over and killed him, one last week was riding along with friends and decided to just nail it, went up to 100mph lost control and hit a guardrail, lost his arm and leg in that one :o

I read somewhere that Palm Beach County has the most pedestrian accidents in the country. Doesn't surprise me, we have a large population of seniors from the northeast(NYC), believe me half of them should not be on the road, we got sideswipped by an older lady and she didn't even know she hit us and just kept driving.

I just found out yesterday that one of my friends (20) and his brother (24) were killed in a car accident on thursday in WV. According to the Washington post, they were stuck in traffic when a semi rear ended them, pushing their car under the semi in front of them. Apparently a fire broke out which "spread rapidly through the vehicles, burning the passenger vehicle beyond recognition". Holt was a great person and was taken too early. I don't mean to hijack the thread, I just wanted to point out that while many of us young people do drive like idiots, they are not always at fault when they are involved in tragedies on the road.
