Super User Matt Fly Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Don't won't to beat a dead horse to death, but media day on ESPN for the SEC, just said. Only three players in the history of college football have ever entered their senior season with two (2) national titles and a heisman. Matt Lienart, Tim Tebow, and Doc ??? from Army. Seems to me, others recognize USC's AP title as well. lol Quote
carrothead Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Darren McFadden is definitely better. Along with Felix "The Cat" Jones. They didn't have that great of a supporting cast, I'm sorry to say, but they still made it happen. I'll never forget the highlight on SportsCenter, saying, "Felix the cat scampers on into the end zone once again!" Or the famous voice of Paul Eels screaming "TOUCHDOWN ARKANSAS! THE HOGS HAVE WON THE GAME!" Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 23, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Matt what part of USC's athletic director signing a contract with the BCS accepting that the BCS will be the only recognized title do you not understand? Within that contract it states there will no longer be a Co-Champion or Split Champion and that the AP Poll will have no bearing on the out come. Signed, Sealed, & Delivered by each AD from each respective team Quote
Super User Root beer Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 I finally beat Tebow at something. Read link.. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec P.S. If you read on down, apparently one of Alabama's freshmen QB has impressed our All-American Linebacker! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 I'd like to read those words verbatum. USC also signed the rights away to the Rose Bowl didn't they? Not until a few years ago, and only if, they were part of the title game. More politics than football considering the BCS was dreamed up by the SEC old commisioner. We've had more arguements in recent years with the invention of the BCS than ever before. Playoffs have been mention more with the *** of the BCS than the old system that was in play. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 24, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 24, 2009 BCS Standings The Harris Interactive College Football Poll, USA Today Coaches Poll and computer rankings each comprise one-third of the BCS Standings. To derive the three percentages, each team is assigned an inverse point total (25 for No. 1, 24 for No. 2, etc.) The two poll percentages are calculated by dividing each team's point total by a maximum 2850 possible points (Harris) and 1525 possible points (USA Today). The computer rankings percentage is calculated by dropping the highest and lowest ranking for each team and then dividing the remaining total by 100 (the maximum possible points). The BCS Average is calculated by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Poll, and computer rankings. The teams' BCS Averages are ranked to produce the BCS Standings. The six computer ranking providers are Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe. Each computer ranking provider accounts for schedule strength within its formula. The BCS Standings are used for: * Determining the two teams that qualify to play in the BCS National Championship Game; * Determining any other automatic qualifiers; and, * Establishing the pool of eligible teams for at-large selection. The BCS Standings are released eight times each season, including the final Standings on selection Sunday. The National Football Foundation compiles and releases the Standings each week. Super User Catt Posted July 24, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 24, 2009 FYI Florida has all 11 starters and all 11 backups back on defense. The current best player in the game leading the offense and there's speed all over the field. Quote

For a true LSU fan, you got a huge crush on Florida..... : Alabama fare against Florida better than LSU. ;D I will never brag about Florida or any other team in SEC. Even if they are playing a team outside the conference, I will simply tell the opponent they are tough, because they play in SEC. Time for kick-off. After helluva battle with Virigina Tech, mark your calendar for October 10th showdown, Alabama Vs Ole Miss. Alabama playing South Carolina for Homecoming. How about that. SEC team vs an SEC team for homecoming in Tuscaloosa. Quote

fish-fighting-illini Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 ....there is not a football team in existence that is a true "one man show". There were probably several. 70's vintage Walter Payton comes to mind . His line was awful, his QB's were awful you name it. Maybe Barry Sanders w Detroit as well. Jim Kelly with some Buffalo teams and some others, maybe even Gayle Sayers but he had some lineman and some defense. Not college I know but it shows the general possibility I think. Quote
