If he stays healthy and has an outstanding senior season, it's possible he could finish his career with two Heismans and three national titles in four years. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 I think that he could have a chance depending on what he does this year but as of now, I don't think he has quite achieved that level. Archie Griffin, Earl Campbell, Tommie Frazier, and more of these guys come to mind. Quote
drmnbig Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I totally disagree. Â Put him behind a weak front line where he has to hurry or give him only average recievers and he's just another name in the book. Â His team, on the other hand, plays the game about as well as it can be played....with his help of course. I'm not trying to downplay him totally but there is not a football team in existence that is a true "one man show". Quote
Super User Root beer Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Sometimes, I wonder if he had went to Alabama would Saban have been hired as coach.. Before going Florida he was choosing between Alabama and Florida. I remember article about it before SEC game he committed to Florida at last minute. Quote

Super User flechero Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 I totally disagree. Â Put him behind a weak front line where he has to hurry or give him only average recievers and he's just another name in the book. You could say that about any great QB... Â But look at it this way- Â there are plenty of guys that have a great supporting cast that aren't great... Â why? Â Because, they just aren't great. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Well, I'm not really a fan of his, but there is little doubt that Tebow is a one man show. No matter who has the ball, Tebow is always the man to watch. Every team knows this and yet, the man is still unstoppable. Greatest College Player ever? I would say so, too! 8-) Quote
drmnbig Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I'm not jumping up and down saying Tebow is not great because he is. To elevate him to being the "greatest" is wrong though, IN MY OPINION Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 We'll see this year.   Ken Dorsey is the all time winningest QB in college when he was part of the Canes  4 year long run as a 4 year starter.  Tebow won't come close to that record.  Tommy Frasier of Neb. comes to mind as well, part of the NEB Back to Back titles, and was just wide left on his third title attempt.   No doubt Tebow and Matt Lienhart have the hardware and awards. Matt Lienhart carries alot of those same accolades and others as well.   2 national titles, 1 BCS, 1 AP, played for a third title.   3 year starter, replacing a Heisman Trophy winner, Carson Palmer. Tebow has 2 titles, he's won one as a starter.  Fraiser, Dorsey, Lienhart all have equally impressive resumes. The only thing Pat White is missing as a collegiate QB is a title. Theres 3 QB of this decade that have the numbers, White, Lienhart, and Tebow. You can snicker about me throwing Pat White into the mix if you'd like.  His numbers speak for themselves, and I'm not a WVU fan either.   John  Elway of Stanford has been given the title of "greatest athlete to ever play college football", and he won no titles in college.  Tim is yet to write his final chapter.  But so far, he's got a best seller no matter the outcome. He'd be in my top 5 of this era of college ball, thats for sure.    Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 21, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Sorry but Matt Lienhart has only 1 recognized national title  Quote
daviscw Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Greatest college football player ever? Absolutely not. Maybe one of the greatest quarterbacks? Maybe. Quote

The Lion's or Raider's will prove that if he goes into the draft. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Sorry but Matt Lienhart has only 1 recognized national title So says you, but the books say different. The AP is still recorded in the record books every year as AP National Champion. Â Â Just like it shows Florida as AP champ last year. Â Â Sorry, that year, they didn't agree with OU getting the BCS vote to play LSU for the National title after they lost the Big XII title to Kansas State. Â Â Â One thing you can add about the other QB's, they never lost 4 games in one season, something Tebow did as a first year starter. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Quote
Uncle Leo Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I believe if he achieves what Catt thinks is possible in his senior year there could be an argument for it. Let the argument begin at the end of the season!!!!!!!!! Quote
jimmieO Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 How could he not be? He's not a one man show, but he's dang close. Like someone else said before, defenses know he's coming, but they still can't stop him. And what about the intangibles? Has their ever been a greater leader and motivator? Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 21, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 21, 2009 The problem is the only recognized record is the BCS period; the AP is no more valid than Yahoo Users Fan Poll. If Tebow wins the BCS National Championship and a Heisman Trophy this year what will your argument be? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Â Â THe NCCA has never crowned its own champion. Its always been done by outside sources. The NCCA's record books list Florida as the 2008 BCS champion, AP Champion, Â I guess it counts in the NCCA records. Tebow maybe the best SEC QB ever, but there are plenty of other college QB's with resumes. I said he was in my top 5 this era. His last chapter is yet unwritten. Â Â Â IF Tebow whens. Â Â Big IF. Â Â Â Florida has lost to a West SEC team ever year this decade. Â Â I see no reason to stop that trend to end this decade. Tebow is special, on and off the field. Â Â He has a Legacy, how big is just yet to be written. Quote
tallydude Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I think Hershel Walker was the greatest college player ever. But Tebow is great and if they win again, he certainly deserves to be in the conversation. Quote
NewAngler Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Well, I'm not really a fan of his, but there is little doubt that Tebow is a one man show. NewAngler Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Wait... New best college player ever.. Maurice Clarett. Hahahahahahha Quote

If Tebow wins the BCS National Championship and a Heisman Trophy this year what will your argument be? Well, the fact that he is wasting another year in college speaks volumes. For $20- $30mm who do you want me to kill? 8-) Quote
Super User South FLA Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 As an FSU alum, it makes me sick, but I would have to agree he is a great QB, hopefully his accomplishments can be eclipsed by a FSU player sometime in the near future. Â Nevertheless, the best ever is a bit premature. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 He played up North, he played Defense :LARRY TAYLOR best college palyer Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Opinions are like butt holes , every one has one. In reality it is very hard to say who was the greatest of all time , especially in a team sport. Â Â JMHO Quote
