Cigarlover 1 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 My all time favorite comic strip. This and Calvin and Hobbes. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 23, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 23, 2009 Yup. I even bought the books. Gary Larson is from Seattle. Shows you how twisted we are up here. ;D I read "Nature's Way", published locally prior to the start of "Far Side" way back when. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 "The Far Side" was the best, by far. "Dilbert" is the only thing that comes close to taking Larson's place. Quote

Daniel My Brother Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 The 3 best strips from the 80's: 1. Far Side 2. Calvin and Hobbes 3. Bloom County All classics, but the Far Side was the best. Quote
llPa1nll Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 My all time favorite comic strip. This and Calvin and Hobbes. Ditto Quote
Shad_Master Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 My favorite of all time was the little boy with a gap in his front teeth reading a note from the Tooth Fairy that said, "This time I only took the one under your pillow -- next time I going to take them all". Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted July 23, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Two old salts sitting in a bar. One has a peg leg, the other a peg head. The one with the peg leg says to the peg head "Well, I guess that's an OK story, but wait'll I tell ya how I lost this......" Quote
Eddie Munster Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The Far side ruled followed by Calvin and Hobbes. My favorite Far Side was the one with two spiders stringing a web at the bottom of a children's slide with one spider saying to the other 'if we pull this off, we'll eat like kings!' Quote
srv1990 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The Far Side is the only one I ever made the time to read... great stuff by Larson! Quote
fathom Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 had the desk calender, too. the "fudge packer" is a classic. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 had the desk calender, too. the "fudge packer" is a classic. Must have been The Far Dark Side. Quote
Super User CWB Posted July 24, 2009 Super User Posted July 24, 2009 Glen Lason was a geius. I always bought his dektop calander to give me a reason to look forward to going to work. He is definitely missed. Ther is one in the Chicago Tribune called Argyle Sweater that is very close and pretty darn funny. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 24, 2009 Super User Posted July 24, 2009 Glen Lason? You mean Gary Larson, LOL. Quote
fathom Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 had the desk calender, too. the "fudge packer" is a classic. Must have been The Far Dark Side. wasn't really that bad. just a big warehouse of cardboard boxes and one guy packing smaller boxes inside them for shipment...and the guy wondering why he had no friends. the smaller boxes were chocolate fudge. there were people in the office that never did get it. Super User Muddy Posted July 24, 2009 Super User Posted July 24, 2009 Looking down into an old Roman Galley ship guys shackled to oars big guy beating drum SAYS>>>> BAD NEWS THE CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER WANTS TO WATER SKI AGAIN Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted July 24, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 24, 2009 Man, my mind wanders too much when I cut the lawn............ Three guys in a boat. One of them is wearing an extremely tall ballcap. The caption reads "Vern, Chuck and the Pope go fishing" Two cubs sitting in front of a big bear, who has a human skull on each of his front paws as if he was performing a puppet show. The bear says "OK, one more time and it's off to bed for you two" "Hey Bob, you think there's any bears in this 'ol cave ?" "I dunno Fred, let's look" Gary Larson, wherever you are, we need you back........ Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 25, 2009 Super User Posted July 25, 2009 Calvin and Hobbes. My all-time favorite. Quote
