Super User Tin Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 Wow, I just found out about this and everyone from work and I tried it out. You start the Darkside of the Moon album at the 3rd lions roar in MGM and let them both play. Some of the things that line up and coincidences are just wild. It's like a music video for the entire album Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 Stay out of those cow pastures. Quote
Big Phish Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Stay out of those cow pastures. seriously, thats some good advice. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 Wear your Timothy Leary shirt when you do this Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 If you're actually capable of syncing the music to the 3rd lions roar, you obviously haven't smoked enough to truly enjoy the music in the first place. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 You really just found out about this? Holy &%*, do I feel old..... Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 Play a country song backwards. Your wife comes back, your tractor starts again and your dog comes back from the dead. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 But seriously, I believe there was a lawsuit about one of these older rockbands. They said if you played the song backwards, it told you to kill yourself. KISS maybe...i'm not sure. i know the song you're talking about...i think it was a Queen song but i can't remember which one! Cigarlover 1 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Are you guys talking about Suicide Solution by Ozzy? A kid killed himself back in the 80s while listening to it and the parent sued Ozzy. Quote

Probably from the same gene pool as the kid who burned his house down after watching Beavis and Butthead ignite aerosol spray cans to make a flamethrower. Quote
frogtog Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 OH how can I ever forget Beavis and Butthead I walked around for a year with my T shirt pulled up on my head. Oh those were the days. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 If (Ever tried playing Black Sabbath backwards??? It's either the devil speaking, or Ozzie, but who can tell the difference?!?! ) I had the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath cassette when I was about 9 yrs old. I listened to that tape at night to go to sleep, until I started having horrible nightmares. My dad made me throw it away when I started waking up screaming and my brother started sleep walking. RobE Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 This thread has devolved to the point where it is not only clear that it is not a Music Forum but, you guys don't have Quad Stereo systems with 8 Tracks in your boats, either! The 'art' of back-masking started with the Beatles on thier 'White Album'. Listening to the song Revolution # 9 backwards (on an LP spun backwards on a turntable) hinted that Paul had died. Certain lyrics in the song, when played (faster) in reverse, appeared to recite "Paul is dead man". Who discovered (or leaked) this remains unknown but, it's intrigue prompted the Beatles to attempt it in a more accurate manner on the 'Sgt Peppers' album. What the listener needed was a big imagination. Other bands, including the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, also made attempts at back-masking with frail results. In the early '70's, Black Oak Arkansas released a live album where Jim Dandy repeated the word "Natas" over and over at the beginning of a song. It was intended to say "Satan" when played backwards. That gig didn't go over too well, either. The grooves on an LP are intended to hit the needle from only one side and from the other direction, the word was distorted as 'Na-tasheeee'. Soon after, Pink Floyd surmised that perhaps content could be buried in the mix at a low enough volume that it would register as being heard but, not loud enough that it would be audible. This experiment also failed, even though those with expensive equipment CAN extract the message of calling Pink at the Funny Farm from the forward played music. While Black Sabbath was rumored to have dabbled with the idea, they probably just said it outright. Ozzy, going solo, took it to another level but, still, 'In Your Face'. The song Suicide Solution held no back-masking or hidden messages. When Judas Priest was dragged into court in the early '90's, the prosecution had no credible evidence and the case was dismissed. The young men that took thier own lives were not instructed to do so by some 'subliminal suggestion' on a heavy metal album. They did so of thier own accord. The music of thier choosing was simply a reflection of thier own thoughts. If I want to hang myself? I might choose one of David Allan Coe's more sinister albums. If I want to go fishing? Maybe Jerry Reed or Dolly Parton. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 I believe the cassette /record was "We sold our souls for rock-n-roll" Quote

Palomar Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 They actually did a study and found out it is the devil you hear when you play a record backwards, They have a quote caught on record by the devil and it says " HEY STUPID, YOUR PLAYING THE RECORD BACKWARDS"! : Quote

The very beginning of the song was intentionally recorded backwards, it's clear when you listen to the song. Playing the record backwards left no question as to what was being said. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 it amazes me that all the talk of backward masking and no one has mentioned the great Led Zepplin, it was beleived that Jimmy Page was a master of the art, Page owned and lived in Aleister Crowley's home, the most infamous satanist. Page a devoted follower turned the Zepplin empire into a backwards masking nightmare, and Stairway To Heaven was born. Along with several others. Quote
