Super User Sam Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Has anyone heard about any SEC games on TV this year? My LSU friend sent me the following regarding the LSU broadcasts this season. From George in Mandeville: "I play tennis with the VP of Cox Sports TV, who was just voted the 4th most influential sports figure in Louisiana for whatever that's worth, and we had a discussion tonight about what will be happening now that the SEC has sold their soul to ESPN. He said virtually every SEC game will be televised. He also said that the contract restricts what a school can do as far as out of conference game. LSU for example can only have 1 TigerVision broadcast and apparently that will be the Toolame game. Comcast and some other network worked out a deal to carry 9 SEC games. Since Comcast is not available around here Cox Sports has jumped in to try and score those games but he said they will be real bottom feeder games. He rattled off lots of other stuff that I found interesting but heck if I can remember now after all those beers." Good Ole Mac Can't wait for the Florida-Troy game on TV this year. ;D ;D ;D Quote
1inStripes Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Well its all setting itself up for an SEC Network with ESPN helping get it started IMO and getting a cut of the package. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 I'm gonna miss those 12:30 Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial games. I saw a comprehensive college TV schedule a few weeks ago, the SEC is going to be on ESPN around 11:30 every Saturday. The less-than-appealing SEC games will be on the ESPN regional deal. Quote

Super User Root beer Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 Hopefully the commercial times be cut. Games on CBS for instance, will start at 12:30, and next game suppose start at 3:30, but the game starting at 12:30 will not end until about 3:45-4:00. But they will not starting showing the 3:30 game until 4ish when all commercials during post game is done. It annoyed the daylight out of me. And if a game at 12:30 feature an unimportant game say LSU vs Whoever, but 3:30 game featured Alabama vs Tennessee, the LSU game be cut short in order to start on time at 3:30 for Alabama and Tennessee game. I just wish they change the times on CBS to allow allotted times between games. Anyone else notice this? P.S. ESPN should provide better scheduling of games. ;D Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 23, 2009 Super User Posted July 23, 2009 I heard that ESPN at least would move the times up to 11:30; LSU & Florida early game, Alabama & Ole Miss the late game Quote
