I agree, I tried to watch fishing last sat morning, and that d*** race was on instead. It is interesting how France is trying to screw Armstrong though. All of the drug tests and people saying they were going to knock him off of his bike. I am not a fan of France at all.

I enjoy the Tour de France, it's liking watching a marathon.  I dislike France for personal reasons.

Fries and toast are the only good things to come out of there.

America! f* yeah!

I don't get the whole idea of watching people riding bikes. Well, I don't get the idea of watching people drive cars either for that matter. I guess I just don't like events that involve machines intended for transportation purposes.

I just really want to see Lance win one more time. This one just seems really personal after all the drug rumors and stuff.

I love the Tour.  It's fantastic television.  I wish they showed more of the big races on TV over here.

It's like any sport, if you don't understand what's going on, its boring and frustrating.  I don't watch NASCAR, some of my friends love it, if I'm at their house when its on - all I see is cars going around in a circle but they follow it, they know the drivers, the teams and understand whats going on in the race.

This coming from a baseball man? Wow!

Here's what you get with baseball:

"Here comes the pitch....just a bit out side......"

.......watch the grass grow.......

......hear some bugs in the background.....

.......look in the stands for drunks doing something stupid.....

.....listen to the announcer clear his throat, or was that wake his partner in the booth up again.....

......then 30 seconds, two crotch adjustments, and a dozen lugies later, and the cycle repeats itself. ;D

This shows you do not know the game of baseball, not even a bit

Here is what is going on:

First the visiting team, has a line up built for the stadium they play in; but has to be competitive on the road. One of the beauties of having a team sport played in stadiums that are not standardized

Then: The defense is being adjusted WITH EACH PITCH IN THE COUNT, every single pitch brings an adjustment. This is one of the beauties of sitting up in the cheap seats, you can see this so clearly. The defense, especially the pitcher is trying to contain the hitter.

If the hitters job is to hit a ball to right field, to move a runner to 3rd let's say, the pitcher tries to take this away from him, by ball control and pitch location. The right fielder is cued to the cutoff man and if he has a strong enough arm, it can really get exciting with a direct throw.

If a bunt is in order, then a rotation play is in order and the whole infield is cued for a shift. If the batter gets the right pitch he can still hit away and the whole plan gets smashed

The Hitter; Has a job to do, take, bunt, hit away or swing for the fence. He may need an outside pitch, to get the barrel on the ball, with one out and a speedster on first that would be a sacrifice fly, to the outfielder giving the runner the best chance to advance. The pitcher , if he is tough enough and old school, will put him on his butt with a little chin music

The next pitch can mean a whole slew of possibilities and the game goes on.

Why people want a faster game, so they can get back to work faster, is beyond me

Give me a 1 to 0 pitching duel on a warm summer afternoon, and I am in heaven

If you do not know the game , you would not have a clue any of this is going on.

I just love this game, spent many a day with my Father and Uncles at the ball park, for this I am grateful ;)

I agree with muddy, Baseball has alot of stuff going on. Every single pitch is a whole new scenario. Some people think fishing is boring for the same reason....

He casts.....

Reels in the lure....

Nothing....

RE DO cycle.

Nascar, Golf, and Cycling fans could give the same type of "fanatical" explaination of how great their favorite sport is.  But, if you don't like to watch it, you just don't like to watch it.  (I was just joking with you about baseball by the way, I love to watch H.S. and minor league baseball in our area, and would watch MLB but I don't have cable).

Following baseball is the national pastime.  Baseball itself is a game, sometimes played by athletes.  I love it. :)

Are Skunked and I the only ones who enjoy bike racing?  I've watched the majority of the tour for years now. It's a summer time ritual for me.

I have been a bike rider since about 1974 and thoroughly enjoy watching the tour.  What those guys do is absolutely superhuman.

I'll go out tomorrow morning and ride 32 miles, come back and watch the Tour, then go drag a frog through some lily pads.  Tomorrow is going to be a good day.

There was a lot of drama in the Tour today with a couple of American teams chasing a breakaway that included George Hincapie, an American.  That chase kept him out of the yellow jersey.  George could not understand why they were chasing.
