Lynx Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 It seems that I have been stirring up a little trouble on here already. I just want to address a few things on my mistake &.. The first thought that I would like to get out is.. 1. I TYPE IN CAPS ALL THE TIME: THIS DOESNT MEAN THAT I AM YELLING AT YOU, TALKING DOWN ON YOU, OR EVEN TRYING TO GET NOTICED TO GET MY POINT ACROSS! (MY ANSWER): I have & always will type in caps, its just my style. I don't mean anything by it so stop getting grumpy. If you like I'll play you the violin. There is no rule book that says otherwise. (But I was asked nicely not to write in caps by a moderator, so I am going to try & follow his request as close as possible) 2. (REALLY THIS IS MEANT FOR ONE PERSON THAT I KEEP READING ON) Stop giving advice to others if you don't know what your talking about. That is just going to give the advice taker the run around, he isn't going to learn anything, & is going to be back at square 1. NO I don't know everything, no 1 does, no one on here is Gods gift to fishing no matter how much we want to think that. All I am saying is if you don't know what you are talking about don't waste everyone else's time and post. Just chill. :-X OK FRIENDS: I am done with my rant, sorry. Sometimes I just get so irritated with folks. GOOD LUCKS TO YOU IN CATCHING THE "BIG KAHUNA."
Captain Obvious Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 DID SOMEONE SAY GODS GIFT TO FISHING ?????????? and no I'm not yelling Capt.O
Super User J Francho Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 The caps are uncomfortable to read. I grew up reading books, and books use punctuation and case. I know where you're coming from, and suspect you are typing as you would speak it to someone, and many members will interpret as emphasis. I know I'm guilty of leaving curt responses, but that's how I speak as well. I don't mean to be rude, and that isn't the intention, so I try hard to reread my posts, and make sure the point comes across without being condescending or rude. I think its that type of effort that everyone can put forth to make this a friendly place. As far as not knowing what you're talking about...that isn't always quite as clear. Who is to judge this? How do I know? How do you know? The wrong way may have worked for someone, therefore to them, its the right way. Its best in most situations to offer your experience, and possibly back it up with a picture that illustrates the success you've achieved. Its not about forcing everyone to your way, but its about helping others achieve success. My success is built through my own trial and error, combined with many others' experience. Another part of this is going to be members' genuine enthusiasm and desire to pass on their success. It might be the wrong thing to recommend to you, but for them it was right. Take the Carolina Rig suggestion, recently. A guy is having trouble catching, and someone recommends a C-rig, for fishing the points. You ask what the rig has to do with it, and go on to say that you can hook fish with any rig. While I agree that one should be able to hook fish with any rig, I think that misses the mark. I think a better answer could be formed if the original poster described the fishing conditions a little better, including details about structure and cover. As you well know, the type of terminal rig used is almost always dictated by these factors, and the choice of rigging can be the biggest factor for success, assuming you've located the fish. Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be a critique of your posts, but it kind of turned out that way....stream of consciousness typing....another fault of mine and I apologize, but I do want to say that I value your experience and I do look forward to your contributions. There is always a place for strong personalities combined with wisdom and experience.

daviscw Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 In a world revolved around technology and the internet, there are unwritten rules and certain forms of etiquette people must follow to be taken seriously. You consider typing in all CAPS no big deal, but in the internet world it is an actual way to type called flaming. Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_(Internet) I quit reading your posts because they are simply too hard to read. I don't always agree with the moderators here, but you're not going to get any respect until you quit yelling and insulting others.

Super User Matt Fly Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 I like caps better myself, easier to read and easier on the eyes. Just my opinion. Always have.

My intentions are not be an ***, but as you said give advice through my experience. Thats all that I am trying to do. I just want to help others in becoming full in there potential to successfully land fish on every outing, & to judge everything around them a factor into catching fish. Thanks again, I have taken what you have said into great consideration. -Phil

More importantly, this is NOT a Forum that allows members to dictate "terms of use" to other members. This thread started out aggressive and then you became rude.
