Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 No problem. We have it set up here at work. Needless to say it is quite the distraction. I knew someone would have to make a comment sometime. I want to get a ladders setup sometime too to have another option for get togethers. We call the ladder game "toss" ;D Pretty much the same here in Wisco, as we call it Tossin' Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted July 7, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 7, 2009 how big are the washers you use in this game? I've got them from 2.25" to 2.5" diameter. Tough to find these sizes at the local hardware store If you Google "washer games", you'll find plenty of ideas. The washers can be purchased online. I've seen fancy ones with powder coated paint jobs, college team logos, etc. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 8, 2009 Super User Posted July 8, 2009 The legal washers are nothing more than large, thick, construction washers. Cups were about 4 inches deep. A good pit consisted of packed dirt that allowed you to slide a washer from 3 feet out from the hole. People have to remember, in the 60's and so, there were no game boys, video games, cable TV. We played outdoors willingly. Heck, you almost gotta bribe kids to go outside any more. I can remember seeing Crouquet, horse shoes, dominoes, tether ball at the local park as a kid. I'm playing shoes tomorrow morning at 8am with an oldtimer getting up in years. Don is sanctioned to throw from 30' due to his age, but he still throws regulation. Pretty salty for his age. He throws an old style one flip. Don pretty much realizes that when the warm weather arrives, he's lost me for a weekend tournament partner in shoes. Either or, washers or shoes, I'm game anytime. 1inStripes Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Very cool Fly. I would like to play more shoes than I do. Its about a once a year deal at a camp out, or family get together. Quote

bigtimfish Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 we play a similar version of washers, 3 holes, points 1 3 5, and game to 21....can get pretty intense when the beers r flying. ;D That is washers. 2 boxes 3 holes in each. 6 washers. can play 123 or 135 just like horseshoes. First to 21 without going over wins. Insert Bud,Bud light, coors light, or whatever you drink and have a blast. Cornhole sounds a little dirty to me. Quote
