ArcticCat500 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 what has become of this site lately? it seems that people are now quick to jump, jab and poke at others, no matter what it may be. Im sure the poor economy has alot of us down, but dam, these are are fellow BR members, friends and families. Lets get it back to where we once where, lending advice, bragging rights, sharing our stories and photos. Quote

Fisher of Men Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Thank you Arctic Cat. I noticed that a few weeks ago along with alot of "iffy" language by some (blanking out letters of cuss words, etc.) and some derrogatory/suggestive remarks that may not be suitable for minors. One thing to consider is that we are getting pretty big around here and have alot more diverse membership (that's not an excuse, mind you). It doesn't hurt one bit that we bring this to everyone's attention so that we can work together in bringing back the same old "family-friendly" atmosphere that we once had. God bless, Fisher Quote
Uncle Leo Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I too have noticed this. Joking is fun but there has been too much judgement placed on folks who truely do not know something and ask a question. One of the reason I joined this site was to leasrn and I have done that. Now it is our turn to help others. In the spirit of RESOURCE lets try to get back to this. Quote
Dave T. Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 This happens all the time on most forums. You get the diehards that spend so much time on a forum that they get bored or annoyed when they read the same or similar posts over an over again. They really need to get a life beyond their beloved forum. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 29, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 29, 2009 It has more to do with multiple celebs dieing, and a bad economy than anything else. People come here to escape. Agreed we need to look at the bright side of life these days, and that can be a tall order sometimes. But let's do our best to keep things upbeat and positive here. I think we can all help each other out that way. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I've not seen anything like that. This place is almost the same as it was three years ago. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I can't believe I'm saying this, but I fully agree with Burley. Heaven help me. Quote

Can you give me some examples of this? I read a ton of posts daily and havent seen anything that would constitute a 'rise' in people having problems here. Maybe I'm not reading the right posts. Point me in the right direction. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I'm with the last 3 replies. Really haven't noticed any negativity till today. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 Minus the baseball thread, where we're supposed to talk trash, I think we're ok...cubs suck. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I've taken a few jabs in the past, but once I adjusted my caffeine intake, I'm ok. Haven't notice much negativity. ..cubs suck x2. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I see nothing wrong. If your feelings are that sensitive, you shouldn't be on a online forum anyways. It shouldn't have to be that way though. There's been a few kids I've seen get scared away because of grammar problems or asking too many questions. I've been trying to show respect to everybody....to be honest,I'd love to fish with all you guys one day. Burley scares me though..... ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 Burley scares me though... Well, he ruined his online reputation this year at Kentucky Lake... Jethro Wurly Burley is a great guy! He's one generous son-of a-gun, too! BTW, The "Dinkmaster" landed the second biggest bass on the trip. 8-) Quote

Super User 5bass Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I see nothing wrong. If your feelings are that sensitive, you shouldn't be on a online forum anyways. It shouldn't have to be that way though. There's been a few kids I've seen get scared away because of grammar problems or asking too many questions. Personally, I havent seen much of this. Sure, there are times that the grammar gods intervene more than is necessary but when someone comes on to ask a question but cant even form a sentence, that gets irritating, especially with the SPELL CHECK feature one click away. Some stuff is just flat out hard to read and understanding the real question at hand is even harder. Those are the posts that get overlooked or sarcasm fired in their direction. Asking multiple questions in a row in the same forum is a good way to get yourself ignored or a visit from the peanut gallery. Why? I dont know, thats just the way it is. The search function is probably not used like it was intended, thus creating a logjam of questions by the same person. Instead of poking fun or sarcasm at these people, point them to the search bar and let them know that they can find multiple threads on pretty much any topic they want to know about. If they cant find it in a search, by all means, post away. My bet is that the multiple threads by the same person goes way down. Another thing that some fail to use that is readily available is the smileys. If you're really just joking with someone, put a dam smiley beside it. Otherwise, any remark could be taken the wrong way. If everyone would just do a few things like what I've listed above, these issues will correct themselves. At the end of the day, we are all here for the same reason and there's absolutely no call for being pissy with each other. You dont have to agree with everything that someone posts and if you want to get your point across, do it in a way that will not be offensive to the others reading these threads, otherwise, your comments will be deleted. You can get your point across without starting a full fledged flame war.....just think about what you post BEFORE you post it. And, for anyone in this thread or anybody in general that thinks the board is going downhill lately, please, if you see a thread that is offensive, pm me with a link. We read and scan as many threads as we can but sometimes we dont see the ones that need some attention. <-----WOW! That took one whole mouse click! Quote
