Fish Chris Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 First, I want to make a (totally positive) comment, about you guys, and the other members of this forum; Here are two pages of responses to the death of Michael Jackson, and not one single, negative, slanderous comment about him, even though, being a very different kind of guy like MJ was, certainly opens an invite to that kind of thing..... (probably why an oddball like myself has always felt so comfortable here :-)) But furthermore, I was over on another forum (I go there because I own a Ford F150... but not because all the members are such good guys, as they are here) and I swear 60% of the posts talked nothing but trash about MJ ! One guy went as far as saying it would be better if he had been shot and killed :-/ In a nutshell {and I know it's been said before} but > you guys < are what makes this forum so great ! Seriously ! Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My thoughts on Michael Jackson are, that the guy was hugely talented ! An amazing dancer ! A great singer ! The consumate entertainer ! And like everybody I admire the most in this world, he gave 110% of himself, with everything he did ! Also, I think it's very sad that he was basically robbed of his childhood. I know his father was pretty abusive (pushed him really hard to be a great performer) but I'm not sure how MJ himself felt about that in later life, as it might be what got him to where he was ? Hmmm. It also sucks that he ended up with health, and drug dependence issues. MJ's life was just filled with so many extremes, both positive, and negative. 50 years might seem like a short life, but I think MJ lived about 150 years in that time. Here's a guy that has "earned" a lot of RIP. God bless Michael Jackson, Fish PS, I personally believe that the only thing MJ was every guilty of, was in being a "very different kind of guy", who happened to have had a TON of $$$. Just a totally glaring target, for people who were not talented enough to "earn their own money" :-( Again, very sad... especially for a guy who gave so much of himself :-(
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 28, 2009 Super User Posted June 28, 2009 There is no denying his talent, in todays world of electronically controlling voices and instruments a talent like MJ just stands out more. Was never my style of music but musically and performance wise he was one of the best. RIP MJ
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 28, 2009 Super User Posted June 28, 2009 Yes he was accused of some horrible things, and by most people thoughts he was guilty. However in death most people will tend to look at the good a person did, not on the bad. I am not religious at all but still believe he faced his own judgment in life and has earned the right to rest in piece. And no not trying to flame, your view is just as justifiable as any expressed here. There is no reason to flame you for it.
Super User Micro Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 Michael Jackson was in his prime in the '80s, during a time when music meant a whole lot to me. I liked rock, and only listened to MJ when it was on the radio. I liked his music, but never bought any of it. Only since he sort of wierded-out did I come to realize just how good of an entertainer he was. His performance of Billie Jean at Motown in '83 has got to be his single best performance. In a "young Elvis" sort of way, he looked to be in his prime. His moves were flawless. It was when he was the quintessential Michael Jackson.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 29, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 29, 2009 The mods and I have had to remove SEVERAL posts here, so let me make this perfectly clear: If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it. Period. The man is dead. Show some respect. Glenn

An article in the Washington Post named Elvis as Michael's idol. Very parallel lives led. The $$$millions and $$$millions and the VERY high price paid when you reach the pinnacle of superstardom that very few (if any other than Elvis, the Beatles and Michael Jackson) ever achieve.
